I expect a confirmation email from Newsmax (to join) but it never comes. I have no Outlook rule to prevent it and no such email goes to the spam folder.
Anyone have an idea as to why this happens?

Can you go to your online email account and look in the Spam Folder as it could be in there? It happens to me sometimes and i find it online.

Triple Helix got it right. Apparently there are (2) spam folders, 1 on my PC and 1 in the Comcast domain. There is a setting in the Comcast one that flags all emails IT THINKS might be troublesome. The key here is that Comcast does the thinking for you, even if you don’t want it to. Thankfully you can turn it off.
