In order to use my newly established last pass account do I have to set it up on the devices I use when I travel, namely, my portable laptop and my iPad?Also, his last pass safe, that is, can the master password be compromised?

Hello @filefish44 ,

Welcome to the Webroot Community,

I have Last Pass on my computers, iMac, Laptop and also on my iPad. I believe we are safe in using Last Pass. But nothing is 100% safe when on the Internet. But here is what I found out about Last Pass.

LastPass never knows your master password. The company literally cannot decrypt your data. If LastPass is hacked and bad guys (or the NSA) break into the LastPass servers, you're still safe because the bad guys would only get heavily encrypted blobs that they could not decrypt. ... you have your passwords.

Also please read this article here https://www.lastpass.com/security/what-if-lastpass-gets-hacked

If you are using your devices for travel then I'd advise you to use a VPN for more protection. There are a lot of programs out there.

Hope this helps?

Thank you for your thoughtful reply. The article to which you referred me was very helpful.

Your comment on the VPN for travel makes sense. Are there any articles on VPN to which you can refer me and which VPN do you recommend?

Thanks again.

You're most welcome filefish44,

Some of us would recommend. SlickVPN is great and IVPN

And Webroot has a VPN as well. https://community.webroot.com/knowledge-base-76/wifi-security-336924

Thanks everyone for your help and links to some very useful articles. I'll be able to sort this out and, hopefully, make some choices that will work for me. You all have certainly saved me lots of hours surfing the Internet for answers to my questions.

One, hopefully final question. As I understand it, last pass will put all my passwords that I currently use the on various secure sites in the vault for later retrieval. However, does last pass change the passwords or do they remain the same? Thanks,

Hello @filefish44 ,

LastPass will only change your password only if you direct it to do so. LassPass has a Password Generator if you should want to use it.

Please look here: https://www.lastpass.com/password-generator

EDITED: Also here is information. https://www.lastpass.com/password-manager
