Got an offer for $10 off my subscription renewal, is this and the emial it's from legit?
Got an email saying that if I renew my subscription early, I can get $10 off. I noticed the icon of the tab is different from the official site when i pressed the link. I haven’t put in my information yet, as I’m worried. So do you guys have an easy checkout page, and is Webroot@service-webroot.com really you guys?
Webroot problems with minecraft
So for a month I have been experiencing issues with Minecraft. For instance, I wasn’t able to connect to ANY SERVERS. However, recently I tried to shut down my Webroot, and it works PERFECTLY. Obviously Webroot is the problem but I tried to disable the firewall and everything and things wouldn’t work. Any advice?
How can I make sure Webroot is working on my computer?
I first became aware of Webroot over a year ago when I signed up for it through Best Buy when I had them do work on my desktop computer. Then when I was trying to get some files back and called Carbonite to help me, they said that they now owned Webroot. So I signed up for it through them. I saw something on my computer that said the last check up was 20 days ago so I wonder if it is even working? I am not real computer smart so can’t find my account that tells me what I have and how many years I have it. (Should be 3 years). Hope this all makes sense.
Hello, I am wondering if it is safe to port foward with Webroot, because me and my friend are trying to do stuff and are using an external vpn that has worked in the past, LogMeln Hamachi, and for some reason now its not working, if i could have a staff member help me out by answering this question that will be great, i dont want to put my IP and WIFI at risk by port forwarding through websites and since this port forward is through an anti virus, I dont know if this is safer than through a website, so again it will be much appreciated if a staff member could answer this. Best regards, Mark
Community Email Notifications
LLiddell or freydrew, Thursday, 8/22 at about 4:50 PM EST I received around 15-20 emails that a new topic had been added to the Submit a Business Feature Request subforum. I thought it strange that I received so many at once, but just thought the community was really active. My settings are set-up to send me a notification if someone creates a new topic in this forum. I haven't had the chance to look at all of them and I've been getting to them as I've had time. However, I was responding to one today and noticed that it was submitted by the user 3 months ago. Another one was 7 months ago. Why did I receive all those notifications at once? Honestly, I feel bad because it appears they never had any response at all. I wonder if their threads even appeared on the community. Thought you might want to know. Here's the one I just responded to. Geeksquad from Bestbuy deactivated my subscription without my knowledge
In March 2018, my old computer died and I had to purchase a new one. I went to Bestbuy and purchased a new computer. With the purchase and year support to Geeksquad, came a 6 mo and a 1 year subscription to Webroot. I had informed Geeksquad that I already had a subscription to Webroot that did not expire until September 2018 and I would like to have that one installed on my new computer. Instead of installing my current subscription, someone inactivated it and installed the ones for 6 months and a year. Not knowing this, I was charged the yearly subscription fee in August 8, 2018. Due to what Geeksquad did, I paid for something I didn't have and the Webroot they installed will be up on March 22, 2019. Since I am going to have to renew in March, I would like to request a refund for the one that was inactivated in March of last year and I was charged for in August 2018. Here are the details of the charge: My name is Julia Eschbach, date of charge was August 8, 2018, Ref# ~snip~, A
GMail Hack with 2-Factor Auth enabled
I posted the following on another tech forum: I have my business email on GMail. I use 2-factor authentication for access to said business email. I access my business email from 2 computers and 1 mobile Android device. I do not use Outlook or any email client I access it solely through the web browser. I run Webroot AV on both computers and have run MalwareBytes, Hitman Pro and Sophos Virus Removal tool with 0 hits on all.Yesterday, spoofed emails of my business email account originating from all over the world were sent out to my customers with an attached, password protected file that was a virus. In itself this is not unusual, however, each of the emails was a actual reply from a valid email I had received previously. I immediately looked at my google account settings and verified 2-factor auth, I looked at the devices that were using my email and could verify each one. I could find no proof that someone had gained access to my email other than myself.Does anyone have any suggestion
WSA fails KnowBe4 Ransim ransomware simulation test
We have run the KnowBe4 Ransim v1.1 simulation and found that WSA has trouble protecting against this quite useful ransomware test simulation. This is an updated version of the test that did pass according to previous Webroot testers. Previous older version of the Ransim test is mentioned here: https://community.webroot.com/t5/Product-Questions/Knowbe4-RanSim-Ransomware-Simulator/td-p/273428 We have enabled PUA detection on a copy of the Recommended Default Policy in Endpoint Protection console and checked the policy was updated on the Win7 endpoint. Any other recomendations?
Really Long Full Scan
I have had my webroot for a while and it used to take between 2 minutes and right at 3 to finish a Full Scan. Since yesterday, it now takes between 11 - even once 20 minutes, and Im unsure why, I have had my computer checkout by Geek Squad, and it is clean by thier standards and they did a "Tune Up" but my webroot still is doing 11 - 15 minutes or more per scan. It never catches anything when it scans, also it renews for me on the 16th of October thought I dont know if that matters. The only other thing I can mention is, I make profiles and moved a lot of widgets and stuff saving and then moving them to a new image hosting site, but I did remove all of them and cleaned up as best as I could to my knowledge.
Windows 10 1709 CPU issues
Hi, Since release of Windows 10 version 1709, major CPU issues could occour with some clients. Mainly with Internet Explorer and Task Manager. When opening Internet Explorer, the computer simply stops responding. The cursor wont move at first, only after several seconds. Same thing with Task Manager. I've asked our reseller for help but haven't got any feedback on this issue. Now i'm reaching out here, hoping someone might be aware of the same issue? Many of our customers are experiencing this issue and are forced to uninstall Webroot to use the computer. I had the same issue on my computer but after reinstallation of Windows it seems fine. Not a fix for our customers though. Reinstallation all the computers would be too much work and not a solution. Anyone know of a hotfix? Thanks!

MD5 value for threats detected on Mac devices is always all zeroes
I used terminal via LiveConnect to check the file using "openssl MD5 [filename]" and got an accurate value then cross-referenced with virusttotal.com which determined it was clean. Are there plans to update whatever command is being used to detect MD5 values on Mac files?

Is webroot preventing internet searches
hello there, without webroot enabled on windows 7 internet browsing works 100%. with webroot enabled we can access pages and sites we type the correct web address for but we cannot perform searches for the same or any other pages. google shows "err empty response" and IE shoes "page cannot be displayed". i have looked at filter catagories and as far as i can see there is nothing blocked that should prevent us from reaching the sites we need. any ideas?
I need to whitelist/override two locations for the Mdaemon localcache but not sure about the override settings to just whitelist the localcache file. Is the correct File Mask: LocalCache.* Path Mask: %AllUsersProfile%\AppData\Roaming\Alt-N\Outlook Connector 2.0\Accounts\Outlook\email@example.com or: %AllUsersProfile%\AppData\Roaming\Alt-N\Outlook Connector 2.0\Accounts\Outlook\ - with subfolders selected, in this case it need to only override the localcache file since there is an attachment folder which we do not want to override. and: %AllUsersProfile%\Documents\Outlook Files or just: %AllUsersProfile%\ - would this catch the entire profile to include the two locations above? I appreciate any help with this.
