I had to reset my computer recently and afterwards I used a flash drive I had backed up my files onto to reinstall some word documents. After I did this, I scanned the folder with all my documents and webroot said I had over 3,000 files in the folder when I know there are only a couple hundred at most. Then, I scanned an individual word document and it said that one single document contained 11 files. This only happened with word documents. I had a few notepad files that still only had one file, but for all my microsoft word files, it scans multiple files. What would cause this? This was from one single document. This was from the entire folder I had my documents in. According to this, there are only 317 files inside. And yet, this is what the scan looked like after I scanned that same folder. It says there’s about 100 times as many files in the folder as the properties window said.
The reason I chose Webroot over other anti-virus software is because supposedly, it’s not a resource hog. The past couple of days my hard drive is spinning non-stop and the culprit appears to be Webroot. I was not able to kill the Webroot processes or uninstall the software as Windows is telling me I don’t have Administrator’s privilege although I had no issue uninstalling other software. I’m running Windows 10. When I opened the Webroot console, it freezes whenever I tried to make any change to the setting.
A friend of mine is receiving emails say they are from me and it displays my name but the email address next to my name in <> is someone else &, it changes with each new email. The message is always different and the link it tries to get her to click is different accept for the link suffix always ends with .info. How can we stop this? Thank you, Terry
I found that it doesn’t have any web monitoring features to block adult contents, category wise like Sophos home or Cold Turkey. But it is good for my aging pc. I am looking for security which doesn’t slow my already slow pc with porn blocking capability. Thanks. Please don’t recommend host file editing, google safe search, etc. They can be easily bypass. I want Cold Turkey like features in security software.
As the title says, I tried to uninstall Webroot Security Anywhere Opened up windows program for uninstalling programs, searched up webroot, found it, and attempted to uninstall. For about 5 hours, it’s been stuck uninstalling with the cursor having the little blue circle next to it. About 3.5 hours in, my screen went black with the cursor still around and occasionally joined by the blue spinning circle. It is still like this right now. Anyway i can fix it? Is it safe to shut down? I need something I can do, as I don’t really like the idea of taking my computer with my personal data on it, including important financial information, to a specialist during a pandemic. Thanks Edit: I cannot do anything on my computer, as nothing is responsive (or at least responsively visible) with the black screen up. CTRL + ALT+ DELETE and CTRl + SHIFT + ESC do nothing +note Apparently, I am supposed to receive a selection of characters (to indicate I’m not a bot) after selecting Webroot to uninst
I am a web developer, 25 years in the industry. Webroot is giving off cautions on several of my sites today via Chrome or Firefox. Obviously, this is concerning for me. However, there is no further information other than, "this site may contain content that could affect your online security."I need to know *what* is causing this. When I looked under Webroot docs, it says, "These are generally benign sites, but have exhibited some characteristics that suggest security risk."My question is - what are the possible flags that suggested a security risk? As a developer, I need to know what third party scripts are setting off warnings in order to make my sites safe.I would love if the docs could be updated with a list. But more urgently, if someone could give me a collection of the flags that can set off the caution warning, that would be brilliant. All of these sites are new builds. I need to pinpoint the script that is not secure. Thanks in advance!
Just looking to confirm what if any email attached PDF files scanning protection Webroot has for a Windows 10 OS PC? Noting receiving more and more such emails with PDF attachments and not opening them out of concern. What level of scan protection is provided using Webroot currently as not seeing current conversations for years on this topic?
Hi , we have recently been pen tested and the testers were able to upload a eicar.txt test virus file into one of our applications without Webroot detecting it. According to Webroot support, they do not support eicar test files. Just wondering if Webroot has its own malware test file which is of txt, .doc or pdf format.
System analyzer is telling me that something is not functioning/may need to be reinstalled. I Just got this message on a month-old laptop, so everything should be installed. How do I find out what webroot thinks isn't installed or needs to be addressed? The full report just lists everything differently without adding details. I found an old thread that suggested running optimizer and then analyzer again, which I did without change.
I have received a suspicious email from Upclick for renewal of PDF Suite 2017. It advises that there will be an automatic renewal charge of $59.95 for the renewal in July. I have no knowledge of what this is for...and am assuming it is a scam. There is no mention of a credit card to be charged, just the dollar amount and date. Is this a phishing scam?
