How to view or manage file overrides in Webroot MSP Management consoles

The following guide covers how to view and modify file overrides in Webroot MSP management consoles.

File overrides and consoles

The global console is used to manage global whitelist and blacklist file overrides, via the Overrides tab. The global console is presented to Administrators immediately after logging into the Webroot management console.

The Endpoint Protection console is used to manage site whitelist and blacklist overrides and is accessible by clicking the site name under the Sites tab in the global console. In Endpoint Protection consoles, global overrides have a blue background and site overrides have a white background.

To view and manage global file overrides in Webroot management consoles:

1. Log in to the Webroot management console.
2. Click the Overrides tab.
3. To view global whitelist (good) overrides, click the File Whitelist tab. To view global blacklist (bad) overrides, click the File Blacklist tab.
4. You can then modify or delete existing overrides by clicking an individual override to display the details in the right hand panel, then modifying as needed:

For MD5 file overrides, it is possible to modify:
  • Name / Description
  • Determination – Good or Bad
For Path & File file overrides, it is possible to modify:
  • Name / Description
  • File Mask
  • Path / Folder mask
  • Option to include sub-folders
  • Option to Detect if Malicious
5. Deleting an override is completed by selecting the override and clicking the Delete button.

To view and manage site file overrides from the Endpoint Protection console:

1. Log into the Webroot management console.
2. In the left hand panel, click the Endpoint Protection Console button to switch to the Endpoint Protection console.
3. Click the Overrides tab, then the File & Folder Overrides tab.
4. Select the type of override to view or manage:
  • For whitelist (good) overrides, click the Whitelist tab.
  • For blacklist (bad) overrides, click the Blacklist tab.
5. You can then modify or delete existing overrides by double-clicking to open the Edit override window, then making modifications as needed:

For MD5 file overrides, it is possible to modify:
  • Override name
  • Determination (good or bad)
For File / Folder file overrides, it is possible to modify:
  • Override name
  • File Mask
  • Path Mask
  • Option to include sub-folders
  • Option to Detect if Malicious
6. Deleting an override is completed by selecting the override and clicking the Delete button.

To see the policies that file overrides are assigned to:

1. Log into the Webroot management console.
2. In the left hand panel, click the Endpoint Protection Console button to switch to the Endpoint Protection console.
3. Click the Overrides tab, then the File & Folder Overrides tab.
4. Select the type of override to view or manage:
  • For whitelist (good) overrides, click the Whitelist tab.
  • For blacklist (bad) overrides, click the Blacklist tab.
5. Locate the Policy column, this will display the policy that the override is assigned to.
