Internal sites or intranet not accessible when Webroot DNS Protection is in use

If users are having trouble accessing internal sites or the local intranet when DNS Protection is in use, check the Domain Bypass List. This list is located in the DNS Protection settings screen and accessing it depends on the console in use:

For multi-site Webroot Management consoles:
  1. Log into the Webroot Management console, select the Sites tab.
  2. Find the Site you want to modify and click the gear icon under the DNS Protection column.
  3. The DNS Protection settings page will display, the Domain Bypass List is towards the bottom of the page.
For single site Webroot Management consoles:
  1. Log into the Webroot Management console, select the DNS Protection tab.
  2. The DNS Protection settings page will display, the Domain Bypass List is towards the bottom of the page.
To help make local resources more accessible:

Add two entries to the Domain Bypass List, one for the specific local domain and another that includes a wildcard in front of the local domain. If your local domain is companyname.local, the entries to add will be the following:
  • Specific Domain - companyname.local
  • Wildcard Domain - *.companyname.local
Below is an example using the domain companyname.local, shown in a mulit-site Webroot Management console:

If this does not resolve the issue, please open a ticket and work with Support to investigate.
