While it’s old news to those in the industry, cloud computing has raised questions about data sovereignty and storage that have yet to be fully hashed out. As nations continue to pass laws meant to protect the privacy and identities of their citizens, data storage regulations are subject to change.

After hearing from clients and studying new regulations, we are aware that Brexit marks an example of such change. In order to avoid regulatory headaches for partners and clients based in the EU, Carbonite + Webroot, OpenText companies, have opted to open a new datacenter in the Netherlands beginning this August in addition to datacenters it currently operates in the U.K.

Admins have the option of relying on this new location for compliance with local GDPR and EU data sovereignty requirements.

Through data storage, cybersecurity and user awareness training, Carbonite + Webroot consistently strives to facilitate compliance with industry and governmental regulations for our clients. We hope the opening of this additional datacenter makes working with Carbonite + Webroot a more secure and seamless experience.
