Nastiest Malware 2023
Questions About a Webroot Product? Start Here!
Hello, Recently we have seen fileless malware come up on some endpoints. PowerShell is launching a script that loads a text file, that spawns a remote connection back to an attacker.I understand the Evasion Shield is supposed to detect this. Is there a way we can block PowerShell scripts with Webroot, or even better, where we can be alerted if a PowerShell script launches, or can we block it, etc? Thank you
I paid to continue my subscription for another year two days ago, but the program still says I only have 11 days left. Why? Support is a joke. The only way to get it is to reenter a support ticket I created five years ago, which means nobody will probably read it. Why? Most technical support requests from other companies result in an immediate canned response that they will contact me shortly. This doesn’t. Why? Every time i turn on the computer, Webroot wants to make a change to my hard drive. Whether I let it or not, it asks again and again. Why? If Webroot has this much trouble doing business, how can I trust them anymore to catch viruses? Long time user getting fed up.
I was checking my Mgt Console : (W10) Secure Anywhere CE 21.4 and noticed several devices were doubled/tripled up:See image#1,2,3#7,8#9,10#11,12 What is happening? What have I done wrong ?? Any advice plz, thx Longboard
Something unusual. Webroot CE 9.0.32.58I was shifting files around the other day and making image files for backups, when webroot suddenly lit up identifyiin multiole files which we had previously scanned with no problems and of specific interest all my internet zone domains were red flagged.Had to disable Webroot for the duration.I do use Spyware Blaster to add site restrictions? What was that?
How can I completely close my account and so that I can stop getting upgrade notices on my phone that don’t work? I literally get a notice every 5 or 6 minutes and following the upgrade instructions goes to a broken link. If WebRoot cannot get a simple upgrade to work then how can I trust them to provide security for my devices? I’m not the only one with problems because numerous people have left one star reviews of the phone app over the last few weeks and Webroot has obviously not addressed the issue.
Spoke with Webroot technical support about latest version not detecting latest Mac malware. The tech support person wasn’t inclined to believe me and would not help further. Anyone here know why malware discovered in December ‘21 and Jan ‘22 would not have detection in place. Please don’t ask me to contact technical report (read above).
Hello Everyone.I am getting this new Pop Up message o my computer. Would you please let me know what i need to do, also, how can i disable it.Thanks.Also, How is Baldrick doing.
After upgrading to MacOS Catalina, the WSA window launched on every new login.Really annoying, and no way to control it.So I tried uninstall Webroot, and reinstalling. But after clicking the installer, nothing happens. The webroot icon is sitting in the dock, its open, and clicking it, the menu-bar with only shows “WebrootSecureAnywhere” but just that, no dropdown menus, or app window .I tried this two times, and same result. Please advise
I am unable to get Webroot SecureAnywhere to stop running in Taskman and in services.msc. Access is denied when I choose Manual or Disable in services. Let me back up a bit by saying I had installed the trial then uninstalled after a week or so. It still starts up (WRCoreService and WRSkyClient). I have tried the Webroot removal tool which ran and stated it was removed. I even tried installing a new trial using a different email address and trial code, then uninstalled that. Same issue. There is nothing in Startup to indicate Webroot should be starting with Windows. I am unable to delete the WRCore program data folder. Access is denied.
Will not uninstall. Does not appear in app list but it is still on the machine. I no longer need this on this pc.
Carbonite has become a major irritation. Not only is it abominably slow but every time I’m diverted to it I’m questioned by an annoying security app only to find my password doesn’t work. I seem to have to generate a new one for each visit. Last time I visited I forgot my password I clicked on the resulting email and found myself logged in to my account!!!Why has Webroot put itself in the hands of these amateurs? Who are they anyway? Norton killed itself doing a similar thing when it hitched up with Symantec.
MSP here using endpoint protection.Problem 1 - For some reason my Webroot clients never update, on any computer. I always have to install the latest WRSA.exe installer manually. This has been going on for over a year.Problem 2 - I installed the latest, 9.0.32.60 a few minutes ago. Upon inspecting the WR log files, I found that Webroot is blocking itself when updating/installing.Blocked: Webroot Process ""C:\Program Files\Webroot\Core\WRSkyClient.x64.exe"
Buenas noches, necesito me indiquen como encontrar una renovación del anti virus y activación del mismo….(Good evening, I need you to tell me how to find a renewal of the anti virus and activation of it….) ~PTD
I enabled webroot to use Lastpass authenticator. When I got a new phone webroot info did not transfer in the Lastpass authenticator app. I do not have a secret code to start over because I can not access my webroot account. Where do I go from here?
How can whitelist my website from your database if I’m not a client? Website is clean and working perfect.
I currently have almost a week before i renew. why is webroot attemping to collect my renewing cost days before expiration. My banking institution has that cost amount currently pending
After installing Webroot Secure Anywhere, I noticed that Windows Defender continued to run and appears as the primary security software under Windows Security - Virus & Threat Protection. This is not the case when using other security software - examples that come to mind are Norton 360 and Sophos. Also, the Windows Antimalware Service Executable is running all the time, performing scans and using significant resources. While I tried turning it off, including through the Windows Registry, it cannot be disabled.I’m pretty sure that this is a defect in the Webroot software, unless Webroot has decided to use the Windows antimalware engine in place of its own. Note that I have tried this on two different machines running Windows 10 and Windows 11 respectively with the same result. And aside from Windows Defender, which Webroot should be disabling, there’s no other security software running.I’ve opened a Support Ticket with Webroot Support, but have heard nothing yet, so I was hoping to
Giving McAfee and other cancerous anti-virus a run for its money in terms of ANNOYING and OBNOXIOUSWho thought allow Webroot SecureAnywhere to send popups to their customers was a good idea? This is beyond annoying. I have never seen these sort of annoying popups until now this month and I’ve been subscribed since 2016. Stop asking us to sign up for “My Account” and stop asking us to accept your terms of service. How many times do I have to close these damn popups before I chargeback my credit card?
Webroot recently started showing me a popup at start up of Windows 10 containing the words: “Sign up for MyAccount.” I am already signed up! Yet this braindead program keeps showing me the popup. I am getting tired of clicking the little X. There should be some built-in interaction between the popup and the fact that I am already “signed up.” I have tried just about every suggestion on the internet. Apparently Webroot has gone out of their way to circumvent the normal Windows popup override system. HELP!
My Webroot seems to be active and the control panel says it was updated 5/22/22 and Defender says it’s active. I’m unable to execute the program or open or do a scan, the link or icon doesn’t react to anything. Help!
Do I have a paid up account with webroot?
Yes I have rebooted as the “help ticket” as suggested. Whenever I reboot my machine and I am fairly regular about that the pop up keeps coming up to sign up. I have and yet its still there. It doesn’t do this on my desktop only my laptop and will not go away unless I click it away. I will say that I created the account from my Desktop machine and the problem is on my laptop. It is very annoying and there should at least be an option to disable those sorts of things.
Is it necessaryto install the NEW Webroot App? Can I continue to use Webroot and be protected if I don't uninstall the old/original Webroot App? I love the original app, and after reading all the reviews on the new Webroot App, I am very reluctant to install the new app.
Hello! I bought a new laptop through BestBuy. With it, came 6 months of Webroot Antivirus. However, every time I try to activate it, it does not show up as an actual product. BestBuy couldn’t help me, so I decided to purchase Webroot on my own. However, when I tried to purchase WebRoot’s “Antivirus for gamers” using this link; Antivirus for PC Games Without Performance Impact | Webroot ; I was hit with a “cannot be processed” error which told me to try my purchase again. So I did. Again, same issue. However, my bank was charged for the original $29.99 cost. Why do I worry I am getting scammed while trying to buy a product promising to help me prevent scams? Please help me figure this out, as it is incredibly frustrating now having to wait for my claim with my bank to finish while still needing anti-virus software. I have been told WebRoot is the best, which is why I am here. But now I am having seconds thoughts.
