Multiple tech support scam websites posing as WebRoot/Geek Squad
Multiple tech support scam websites posing as WebRoot/Geek Squad

.
There are multiple fake websites that use the title portion of the HTML to show "www.webroot.com/safe" that was printed on the empty DVD boxes given out at Best Buy to try and trick new Best Buy/Webroot customers that would then use remote access software to access victims computers and charge for non-existent security products using a guest account on PayPal. My friend's son was a victim of this fraud when he purchased a new laptop from Best Buy and was given a free subscription to WebRoot but the box did not contain an installation disk. He must have entered "webroot safe" into the search field instead of the full URL as he is somewhat new to computers and was charged $250.00 to his debit card by scammers impersonating the Webroot/Geeksquad website. I was able to get his money refunded at his bank and recovered the deleted logs from the remote access software the scammers had used. I have made 4
I'm trying to renew but every time i try it takes me to a BestBuy page that says it's not possible
BestBuy page says "This plan or service is no longer available. If you have questions, please call us at 1-800-433-5778." but my app says It's protected and everything is up to date but it's orange with a big orange exclamation mark "!" and my account section has a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark inside. I haven't renewed for a long time and i know it's out of date but BestBuy says the plan is no longer available. so how do i renew my webroot protection?
What does this symbol mean??
There has been a threat detected on my laptop, but when I try to remove it I am unable to because of this symbol. I have tried looking up what this symbol means and I can't find any information on it anywhere. It won't let me click to quarantine the virus or do anything with it. If anyone knows anything about this symbol I would greatly appreciate getting some information on what it means and how I can go back to removing the threat. Lastpass not accepting Webroot credentials
I never set up password management in WebRoot but noticed an email saying that tomorrow was the last day to 'upgrade' to LastPass. Thinking this is something I *should* do, I logged into my WebRoot account, clicked on 'Manage Passwords' but the LastPass site rejects the email/password combination I entered -- "Invalid email or password!" -- even though it is exactly the same as just entered to access WebRoot and follows LastPass instructions: "Please log in using your Webroot username and password." I searched this forum and apparently this is an long term, ongoing problem. I see Moderators making suggestions and people responding with variations on 'Nope. Doesn't work." Still haven't found a clear answer. There is clearly a disconnect between WebRoot and LastPass. This does not inspire confidence. If YOU have gotten this to work, please advise how you did so. Thanks in advance!
Bad Computer Slowdowns When Connected over a VPN
We do lots of work with remote networks that use a VPN for connection. I've noticed that when we do utilize a slower VPN, the PC performance goes to crap. Everything, even the simplist things such as right-clicking a file, or opening an RDP file take extra long, but it almost seems a bit random. If I shut-down WebRoot protection, performance returns. I can only assume WebRoot is trying to route traffic through the VPN, but the fact that there's such a slowdown, just simply because the network connection is poor is a bit concerning for me. Is there any way to tell WebRoot to either delegate to the base network connection, or potentially hold off on much of it's network activity when a VPN app or network connection is established?

Problems with Webroot Mobile Security
Hi. I currently have a subscription of Webroot SecureAnywhere Antivirus for Windows (1 device only). Yesterday I thought it would be nice to install Webroot in my Android smartphone too, so I downloaded it from Play Store. There it says that the mobile antivirus can be used for free, without any keycode. When I installed it, Webroot asked for my user account so the anti-theft protection could be enabled, so I provided it. But when I access the product settings (registration), my keycode for the PC version is someway shown there (the keycode that was supposed to cover only one device). Even so, my smartphone doesn't appear in my web console. It says I should upgrade my Webroot product. Why? I should be able to use the Mobile Security for free, and it doesn't work without the console. Is there a way I can use both my Webroot SecureAnywhere Antivirus (paid, for PC, one device) and the Webroot Mobile Free Version in my smartphone with the same user account, and make the smartphone show u
WSA for Mac and Gatekeeper Vulnerability
PVaddi LLiddell freydrew Since Apple hasn't fixed the vulnerability in Mac's Gatekeeper yet and there is no word of a fix soon from Apple, Will Webroot cover the vulnerability in Gatekeeper by stopping malware coming through Gatekeeper and infecting the OS? webroot removal or update keycode
Hello all, I am fairly new to webroot, and just lately have been deploying 200 computers more or less with webroot. My problem is that:

Deployment of webroot went great. (webroot installed).
keycode didn't get registered. The deployment script was missing a "/" before KEY=
I cannot see the agent/client on our web console.
I can only manually remove / add new keycode or remove the software.
My questions is then, isn't there a way to "deploy" an keycode update towards all of my clients? without using the web console, since none of the 200 laptops showed up, because the keycode wasn't registered due to a typo in the deployment script. How ever - i have tried running: C:\Program Files (x86)\Webroot\WRSA.exe" -uninstall - from our software distribution "software. But this doesn't start the uninstallation. I can do it manually, but have to enter a CAPTCHA code. But then I need to go manually through them all anyway??! Haven't webroot create
WRkrn.sys has wrong altitude?
I am working an issue with Microsoft regarding a virtualized server that was halting without any indications of why and as part of troubleshooting they ran a FLTMC and noted that WRkrn.sys is showing an altitude of 321611 and, MS being MS, they immediately blamed the issue on that wrong altitude. Naturally I argued that this was probably not the case since I could run the same command on any of the other servers without the issue as well as all the workstations also running Webroot and get the same results. Even more unsurprising they didn't care that I had a great number of servers and workstations all running the same version of the software (22.214.171.124) and none of them seem to be having this issue. According to the document from MS (https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-hardware/drivers/ifs/allocated-altitudes) the driver should have an altitude of 320110. Are there any plans to have
Backup and Sync Overhead ?
I have been using WSA for a couple of years now but have only recently explored Backup and Sync. I started with Sync and one 100 MB file. After a couple of hours WSA had uploaded almost 500 MB. In other words, the same file four or five times. I turned it off. I have slow internet and hard data limits and cannot afford that kind of overhead. So Sync won't work for me because I can't control when it will upload. My data limits averages 320 MB per day peak and 320 MB per day off peak. Then I went to Backup instead of Sync and trigger the backups manually in the early morning ( off-peak data ). Even so, Backup uploads the file two or three times, meaning 200 MB or 300 MB for a 100 MB file. I watch the "file transfer" window so I can see that it is uploading the same file two or three times. Why is this? Why so much overhead?

Devices Purchased Lower than Active Devices?
In my Security Anywhere Console my devices purchased is lower than my Active Devices. I contacted my Webroot reseller to question this as I want to make sure I have enough licences. They've told me that devices purchased relates to a historical figure and doesn’t affect or mean anything, it is a field that has just not updated. Is this correct or should my devices purchased actually match the amount of licences I have? If it is correct how do I tell in the portal how many licences I have? Thanks.
LastPass icon add-on no longer displaying on IE browser
LastPass icon add-on is no longer displaying on IE browser since June 14, 2019. It was fine since the transition but just disappeared. It shows in add-on list with no check mark but when I disable it then re-able it; still no icon. It shows in Manage Add-ons as Enabled. IE browser version 11.557.17763.0 Any ideas? Thanks.
Webroot on Windows 7 Pro SP1 Issues
Hi, I'm with Webroot, on a Windows 7 Pro SP1 desktop. I don't usually have trouble with win updates. Last night, when installing the April updates, it went to black screen, then to a screen saying updates were at 0% installation process... and stayed stuck there at 0. I had to pull plug, restart to safe mode, where it automatically started rolling back the incomplete updates and 'cleaning up'. After that I was able to reboot normally and seems ok... but I see those April updates are not installed. I'm going to need to install those updates before mid June... have you heard any OTHER reports of this windows update issue effecting people with Webroot, aside from me? I don't have those other 4 programs listed in your thread title, btw. I just have Webroot and windows defender (which I've set to not run automatically since I mainly use WR). Now I'm afraid to try again, but will eventually need to. Thanks for any clues or info- please do keep this thread updated! Omie
