UPDATED: 4/9/18

SUMMARY:

Incorrect malware detection on some Adobe and other applications while using Webroot SecureAnywhere for Mac v9.0.7.50 definition v.821 (consumer) and Webroot SecureAnywhere Business Endpoint Protection for Mac v9.0.6.72 v.821

DESCRIPTION:

On April 5, 2018, Webroot experienced an issue affecting some business and consumer customers. Webroot SecureAnywhere incorrectly identified some Adobe and other software files as malware in Mac environments. Actual malicious files were identified and blocked as normal.

PRODUCT INFORMATION:
Webroot SecureAnywhere for Mac for consumer (version 9.0.7.50 Definition version 821)

Webroot SecureAnywhere Business Endpoint Protection for Mac (version 9.0.6.72 Definition version 821)

ENVIRONMENT:

Mac 10.7 and later

WORKAROUND:

The Webroot team is aware of this issue and has released a fixed definition with build version 822.

  • Customers should confirm they are running this definition build, and can update the Webroot definition build by:
    • Clicking on the Webroot SecureAnywhere in the menu bar.
    • Click on 'Open Webroot SecureAnywhere'.
    • To display the menu bar options, click the Webroot SecureAnywhere menu.

    • Then navigate to and click 'Check for Updates'.
  • Do not quarantine any files until you have updated to definition build 822.
  • If you have already quarantined files, please do not restart the system or the Webroot agent.  Restore the items from quarantine first, and then rescan after you have updated the definition build.
  • If you have just scanned your computer and have not yet quarantined any files, close the scan results screen. Then update and verify you are on definition build 822, and rescan.

STATUS:

Fixed in:

Webroot SecureAnywhere for Mac for consumer customers (version 9.0.7.50 Definition version 822)

Webroot SecureAnywhere Business Endpoint Protection for Mac (version 9.0.6.72 Definition version 822)
