Let us take a moment to remember the scarifice of the those brave Canadian soldiers who gave their lives to the cause of freedom during the Battle of Vimy Ridge (9 Apr 1917 – 12 Apr 1917).

Also "the battle,......, is commonly highlighted as a turning point in Canadian history, where the four Canadian divisions fought together as a unified fighting force for the first time. While 3,598 Canadian soldiers were killed during the battle, the impressive victory over German forces is often cited as the beginning of Canada’s evolution from dominion to independent nation"

Thank you Baldrick!

Appreciate the information about this story. Wars are often very sad and we need to be reminded of the sacrifices that the soldiers give us for our freedom wherever it is.

Happy Annivesary Vimy Ridge!

Thank you for posting @.
I personally don't think that the 2 world wars or the suffering should be allowed to be forgotten. With the amount of war program on TV some people think they get to much air time, but once they are get pushed to the side lines they will slowly be forgotten  and with that comes complacency along with more chance of them happening again.
