According to research by Imperva, WordPress websites were attacked 24.1 percent more often than websites running on all other CMS platforms combined.
WordPress websites suffer 60 percent more XSS incidents than all other CMS platforms, and the research found that while WordPress is more likely to suffer fewer numbers of incidents for each attack type, it also suffers a higher traffic volume for each attack type.

Thank you for passing this info on. On a very micro level, found this to be true for the same reasons and have been wary of WP sites for a couple of years now. After a change in browsers (that necessitated changing script blockers...Chrome works with a different blocker or did then) I noticed that a favorite site's main page was full of junk and soft porn. I checked my other computer/browser/script blocker and the page once again appeared innocent. This was before I used Webroot but made use of compatible security layers. I could not find a problem with my computers or at any other website. So I contacted the site privately to tell them about it. They insisted the problem must be on my end since they could not see anything and besides, the spouse was a computer technician. Hoping for some insight, I emailed the developer of the script blocker who said I was seeing what his program was protecting me from. Not sure what exactly happened so I remain curious.
