Zoosk.com, an online dating site (and purveyor of really funny commercials), is currently having some users reset their passwords after a leaked list of passwords (that may have been used by a small group of subscribers) was made public.

Here's part of Zoosk's statement to ARS Technica (who provided the report):

"The company is conducting a thorough forensic analysis of the situation. So far, we have not found evidence of our network being compromised. Additionally we have not received reports of unauthorized access to members' accounts as a result of the information posted to this site. However, and out of an abundance of caution, we are notifying certain users by e-mail with instructions for changing their passwords."

The article goes on to say that many of the passwords in the list had the word "Zoosk" in them, which suggests that "at least some of the credentials may have originated with the dating site." In any case, it's further proof that user-generated passwords (especially simplistic ones like those in the list) are easily crackable. This is why it's never been a better time to start using a great internet security solution that also integrates powerful password protection and management capabilities.
