I am lost. Not to techy, Always run Webroot Secure Anywhere before I sign on to anything. Never an infection. This happened Sat. and I scanned, changed passwords on FB, Yahooo,  thought all was ok. Paid bills on line banking tonight. Then got a msg on the phone that msgs sent on FB were gibberish. I'm Worried.

Hello dywins

Welcome to the Webroot Commiunity,

I am sorry to hear you are having issues. Please look at this Website for dealing with FB. http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/4-immediately-facebook-account-hacked/

And look here: https://www.facebook.com/notes/kumar-anubhav-jha/how-to-keep-your-facebook-account-from-being-hacked/317509031609540/

Please go a step at a time and follow the information given. I would change your FB settings and remove your phone number if listed in your  FB account.

If you feel your computer has been compromised then you can have Webroot take a look free of charge with an active.Webroot susbscription. https://www.webrootanywhere.com/servicewelcome.asp

Hope this helps!

?
stay calm it's already too late as it's happened a few hrs ago. Right now focus on getting your things back the way you want it.

First of all are  you working from that hacked machine? Do you have another machine that's not been hacked yet? If so take the suspicious one offline ( power off , disconnect whatever you deem enough so it cannot get online anymore for the time being ).

Now make a list ( in memory or on paper which is usually better ) of all the accounts that are tampered with ( facebook , email whatever else ) and see if you can figure out how to securely change their passwords... Don't just change the passwords but allso see if you can set up some sort of security verification ( get a text message sent to your mobile or get an email to  a backup account if anything like logging in from an unknown location occurs or if they attempt to reset the pwd again ) set up.
While doing so see if there are no dodgy unknown email addresses or mobile nrs set up in any account that could be used to reset the password and gain access again...
Then once all your accounts are secure again attack that pc again that you think's tampered with.... Rule of thumb if you are uncertain it may still be messed with re-install it after wiping the disk. You simply do NOT know if they left anything behind.

And oh yes please i did forget to mention. Take a very difficult password ( don't make it easy to them hackers to get back in ). IF you are afraid you can't remember the password then use Webroot's password manager if your license covers that...
Believe me it's a good thing to have ( coming from someone who goes ballistic when he sees a password being remembered anywhere else then in your mind )

Anyhow and with this i'm stopping this post... Send a nudge if you need help... But don't do half work . Finish it asap for your own good
Ok, now I have almost resorted to my hammer. I can't even sign back into Webroot. I need help. Can they look at my 'puter and fix whatever.
