Q1.  How do I determine if my Secure Anywhere has the latest visus/malware definitions? Is this list/database maintained on my own PC or does Webroot Secure Anywhere access this in realtime from a location outside my PC?

Q2.  Must PC users of Webroot Secure Anywhere manually update their definitions  -  and if so, what is the navigation path / or screen control to be used?

Q3.  My running the scan displays 'Scanning for Malware'. I never see a reference to - as an example - scanning for viruses'.
Is my version of Secure Anywhere only checking for malware  -  have I either purchased only that capability , or confiigured incorrectly  -  could someone in real time verify with me exactly what I have subscribed to for my PC?

Q4.  I have Adware on my PC  -  why is Secure Anywhere not detecting and removing this virus?

Thank you.

Hello and Welcome to the Webroot Community!

1. There are no Malware definitions to download as it's always up to date in the Cloud.

2. No, please see Answer 1  ;)

3. Malware is a term of all Malicious Software which covers everything see here to learn more: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Malware

4. Adware or as we call them PUA's and some other AV's call them PUP's are a real pain as they are not Malicious but Unwanted but WSA does detect and remove many of them see here to learn more about PUA's and how to protect yourself from them: https://community.webroot.com/t5/Techie-KB/How-to-Remove-Potentially-Unwanted-Applications/ta-p/40744

http://searchsecurity.techtarget.com/definition/PUP

5. I'm adding this one! Webroot doesn't use the year for the product line anymore so as long as your a WSA user you will always have the latest and greatest version and it self-updates in seconds see here for the latest releases: http://www.webroot.com/us/en/support/support-consumer-release-notes

Again this is all done on the Webroot BrightCloud Threat Intelligence Network! It's the Future and it's here now with Webroot SecureAnywhere!!

Thanks,

Daniel 😉
