Google Chrome help

The problem started 4 days ago. I was using Chrome then all of a sudden nothing would load. I exited out and after that I couldn't even open Chrome. After trying different things I turned off Webroot and it worked fine. Turn on Webroot and the same problems. So I tried adding Chrome to the add/block files and I made sure it was on the protect list in Webroot. I have it to the point where I can now open Chrome but still nothing will load. Any ideas? I'm running Win 7.

Those are all great troubleshooting steps and I think we might have to collect logs to figure it out.

Is anything being monitored when you click  Utilities, System Control and 'Start' under Control Active Processes?

When I start it, it says it's allowed. There are several monitored processes but nothing chrome
The problem is with Webroot's new "Infrared" heuristics. Go to the Heuristics Settings page and unselect "Enable new Webroot Infrared Heuristics" and instead select "Enhanced Heuristics" or "Normal Heuristics".  That fixed it for me.
Thanks for the response. I went to the page and it was already set to standard and the enable infrared was already unchecked. Played around with different heuristic settings and still nothing.

I have been reading all of this, as everyone here knows I am an avid Chrome user,  but I admit I am quite clueless.  I have been having no problems like this at all.

Like another recent set of replies having problems with Chrome in This Thread, I have had none of the issues mentioned.

I do keep the Webroot Infrared turned to ON.

It is noteworthy I think that I have had problems with Chrome, but not of this nature.  There have been some updates over the last week or so that had difficulties installing.  Webroot worked fine, and Chrome itself was working, but my CPU was being driven at unreasonable levels for an extended period of time due to the updates installing.

For those having problems, I think I would strongly suggest a full clean re-install of Chrome, as I think it possible the issues that are being seen in Chrome are the result of a bad or failed update.
I had the exact same problem and uninstall/re-install did the trick. The uninstall is important because just re-install won't solve the problem.

I had the same problem, but only on one of my computers. I tried the suggested heuristics changes but still had the same problem. I finally got things working by going to the Identity Protection/Application Protection section where I found several .dll files associated with Chrome set to deny. After I changed them to protect, Chrome worked fine.

Just to add my little bit....I too had this problem with Google Chrome and found that I had a conflict in my security applications. Webroot will play nicely with most I know, but the free version of Bitdefender isn't one of them; at least for me. I'd forgotten that I'd installed that and when I first installed Webroot I was unable to get anywhere in the Chrome browser. I tried disabling Webroot; didn't help. Only when I browsed my installed apps folder did I stumble upon Bitdefender Free, removed that, and Chrome and I both expressed relief...Chrome more constructively.
