By default, Google has been encrypting search activity for users who are signed in for a number of years now. However, according to a recent article from searchengineland, the search giant has confirmed that, in an effort to provide "extra protection",  they've made changes in the last month to make secure searching a default for everyone, saying:
We added SSL encryption for our signed-in search users in 2011, as well as searches from the Chrome omnibox earlier this year. We’re now working to bring this extra protection to more users who are not signed in."

This really is good news for everyone because now your searches are quite a bit more secure. The article featured a chart (courtesy of a site called (Not Provided) Count), which tracks the avg. % (not provided) of Google Traffic. The chart is below:

As a Webroot user, you may be wondering if and how this shift will affect you? More good news!  Our upcoming release of the latest version of WebrootSecureAnywhere will allow for the Web Threat Shield in WSA to stay functional through SSL encryption and provide annotations on which sites are good or bad in your search results!
