In the wake of Apple adding the option of using two-step verification for Apple ID's, recent reports say a new security hole has been discovered that allows someone to easily reset your Apple ID. All they need? A special URL along with your email address and date-of-birth. Well, as long as you didn't elect to use the aforementioned two-step verification.
"Apple has more than 500 million active Apple ID accounts as part of it's system. Those accounts are used for its various stores and online services, including iCloud."
According to CNET's report (which is being updated and can be found here), it's believed that Apple is currently looking into the issue as Apple's reset tools are currently in maintenance mode.
Again, this just goes to show that Apple's operating systems are vulnerable and that users need to keep their devices secure. On top of enabling two-step verification (which should be a top priority now), users should also have a security solution that can safeguard all of their OS X and iOS devices.
