Microsoft has promised to pay a little bit more attention to the apps that it approves for download on Windows 8.1, but it turns out that all kinds of useless stuff continues to make it to the store these days.

While looking for some Windows 8.1 apps today, I came across this item called “Download Skype Here,” which is pretty clear a click-bait title supposed to trick you into clicking on the app.

There’s absolutely no single word in the official description and feature lineup that could convince you to download the app on your Windows 8.1 device.

This is the official description of the app:

“Skype is a freemium voice-over-IP service and instant messaging client, currently developed by the Microsoft Skype Division.”

And here is the text showing up in a screenshot and its description (typos and spelling mistakes are made by the app developer):

“What is Skype? Do u no about this. This is one of screen shot from the app.”

There is no doubt that this kind of app should no longer be in the store, so if Microsoft really wants to help users download the apps they need and really appreciate the Metro environment, all these spam apps should be removed as soon as possible.

On the good side, the number of apps in the store continues to grow, so expect more high-quality apps to be released for download in the coming months.
