But sometimes that doesn’t happen, and sometimes the iPad Magic Keyboard backlighting does not work. Usually this is an easy fix however, so don’t freak out if you find the backlit key illumination is not working as expected with your iPad Magic Keyboard. >> Full Article <<

World password day is this week and we’ve decided to make a tier list highlighting popular movies/TV and the passwords they used in the theatrical release. Check out our Tier Maker templateNow, before you get upset that your favorite movie doesn’t rank high enough or there is no movie in an S tier rank, let’s talk about the ranking methodology. I want to preface this with the fact that with 4x2080ti GPUs you can crack 15 characters in 15 hours (almost 3 years ago) so this alone kills anything below A tier. Also, almost every movie here (or at all) doesn’t have computer terminal interface that allows uppercase/lowercase so we had to ignore that factor when grading. F Tier → <=8 characters, No special characters, ONLY numbers or ONLY letters, repetitive, sequential or VERY easy to guess [0000, 1234, password, football] D Tier → <= 8 characters, No special characters, ONLY numbers or ONLY letters. C Tier → <=8 characters, can include special characters, MUST include numbers an
So, we distribute webroot endpoint protection on our clients machines and on Friday managed to persuade a long-time client away from Sophos and onto Webroot. The business owner is a slightly older chap and by his own admission, "extremely paranoid about anything tracking data in his browser" - so he uninstalled the web shield extension of webroot. The irony here is that it is there to protect him from the very dangers he fears of browsing online.I admire his caution, but obviously would much rather he allowed the extension. Has anyone else experienced anything like this before and how did you get around it? Thanks

I’ve just done this on my work phone and realised it’s a handy trick some might not know so I thought I'd post it!Have you ever downloaded or updated a collection of iOS apps all at the same time, then realised you really need to use one of those apps quickly? This is a cool feature to prioritise an app download but it only works if you have an iOS device with 3D touch technology. 3D Touch was a new technology released with the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus devices which senses how deeply users press the display, enhancing the Multi-Touch interface experience. Most of the latest iPhones will have it.The feature here is once you’ve started downloading all the updated apps from the App Store, you can quickly perform a 3D Touch gesture (firm press) on the app icon that you wish to prioritise downloading and from its’ Quick Actions you can choose ‘Prioritise Download’ : I hope this is useful to some!

As organizations look to manage supplier risk, spiraling costs, and geopolitical tension in the post-pandemic world, the complex web of interdependencies upon which they rely is growing. Understanding these supplier dependencies is critical to managing risk effectively, to minimize the operational impact of cyber threats. << Full Article >>

Do you have multiple user accounts on your Mac? Perhaps you have separate accounts for personal and for professional use, or a Guest account for others to use? In that case, you may be interested in taking advantage of a nifty hidden feature called Fast User Switching. As the name suggests, Fast User Switching it allows you to switch between Mac user accounts considerably faster. This is also great for family Macs, where multiple user accounts use the same machine. Typically, in order to switch to a different user account on your Mac, you have to manually sign out and log back in from the Apple menu. With Fast User Switching, it feels like you’re toggling between different accounts. The feature combines the logout and login actions using a single click. ★★ Full Article ★★
The app and servers are dead. The CEO scrubbed his LinkedIn page. No one is responding. RON AMADEO - 4/18/2022 The smart home company Insteon has vanished. The entire company seems to have abruptly shut down just before the weekend, breaking users' cloud-dependent smart-home setups without warning. Users say the service has been down for three days now despite the company status page saying, "All Services Online." The company forums are down, and no one is replying to users on social media. As Internet of Things reporter Stacey Higginbotham points out, high-ranking Insteon executives, including CEO Rob Lilleness, have scrubbed the company from their LinkedIn accounts. In the time it took to write this article, Lilleness also removed his name and picture from his LinkedIn profile. It seems like that is the most communication longtime Insteon customers are going to get. >> Full Article <<

Ever wanted to use a Google Chromebook running the Chrome OS? If you have an older Mac laying around that isn’t getting much use, you may be interested in trying out Google Chrome OS Flex on the old Mac, which basically turns the older Mac into a Chromebook. One potential advantage to this is the Mac gets an operating system that still receives security updates, whereas some old Mac models that are otherwise perfectly great running machines may no longer receive MacOS security updates, and that matters to some users. You also get to tinker around with a different operating system, based on the Chrome web browser. And perhaps you’ll be able to breathe new life into that older Mac that’s otherwise collecting dust? A downside however, is that by installing Chrome OS Flex onto the older Mac, the Mac will no longer have MacOS on the computer, since Chrome OS becomes the operating system on that Mac.★★ Full Article ★★
These apps won’t let you quit them unless you pay up or figure out their tricksBy Mitchell Clark Apr 15, 2022, 8:39pm EDTScam app hunter / developer Kosta Eleftheriou, known for catching egregious scams that make it past Apple’s review process, has once again brought attention to a new crop of shady apps being peddled through the App Store. This time they’re on the Mac, and they’re using pop-ups that make it extremely difficult to quit an app without agreeing to outrageous subscription prices — all without Apple noticing, despite its argument that its App Review process keeps devices and users safe. ★★ Full Article ★★
You can add secure notes to your iCloud Keychain account and login entries if you’d like to. The notes can serve any purpose, but they can be particularly handy if you want to reference something specific to that login, whether a log of prior passwords, or the purpose of the account, or whatever else. For example, lets say you have a specific login to a credit card saved in iCloud Keychain, and you want to attach a note to that keychain entry stating it is a business account only, that’s easy to do. Or maybe you have a Netflix login saved, and you want to add a note reminding you it’s your favorite aunts account and not yours, that’s easy too. ★★ Full Article ★★

Need to remove a password from an iWork document? Do you find it inconvenient to open password-protected Pages, Keynote, and Numbers documents? Do you no longer need password protection on a particular iWork file? You’re certainly not alone in that regard, and fortunately it’s quite simple to remove a password from any Pages, Numbers, or Keynote file, making them easy to open and removing the encryption from the files. Sure, adding a password to your iWork documents protects it from prying eyes. But, this security comes at the cost of convenience. Not everyone would want to type the document password every time they want to simply open and view the content. Optional Face ID authentication does address this issue to an extent, but you can’t really use Face ID on your Macs, can you? Hence, some users may wish to remove the password completely as long as they’re not sharing the files with anyone. ★★ Full Article ★★

One of the most exciting features for iPhone and iPad with iOS 15 and iPadOS 15 is Live Text. Live Text is kind of like OCR (Optical Character Recognition) but for your images, and it allows you to grab text content from photos, whether it’s a screenshot, or a picture of a handwritten note. Apple understands that people store a lot of information in the form of image files on their phones. This includes photos of documents, notes, important files, screenshots, and whatnot. Live Text can detect text information from pictures as well as your camera’s preview. Furthermore, you can copy and paste this information wherever you want on your device, just like any regular text. The best part about Live Text is that it works like magic thanks to the deep neural network technological underpinnings, and you don’t need to go through complicated steps to use it.
