Now here is a question. In the past one could not rely on Windows Update to identify and therefore propose updates to system critical drivers. Therefore many a company brought out and sold Driver Update software. With the advent of Windows 10, and from what I can see a much more 'aggresive' Windows Update...in recent days it has proposed a plethora of driver updates on my ex Windows 7 system (now running Windows 10) and I was therefore wondering what other users think of this and the usefulness of Driver Update software/apps? Is there still a place for them or is their day done (if indeed there ever was a major market/place for them), etc.? All thoughts welcome. Regards, Baldrick

Cyber News Rundown: Canadian Maple Leaf Foods targeted by weekend cyberattacksCanadian food producer Maple Leaf Foods suffer an attack that caused numerous operational outages. The outages were spread across the company’s 21 manufacturing facilities, and they currently don’t have an estimate for when they’ll return to normal operation. In other cybersecurity news, Azov ransomware has been wreaking havoc by corrupting system files without abandon.Azov ransomware corrupts, rather than encryptingResearchers have been investigating the recent mass-distribution of Azov Ransomware, which leaves a ransom note with only journalists as contact points and corrupts all system files instead of using encryption. After hiding on a system for a pre-determined amount of time, the malware begins corrupting each file in 666-byte increment cycles, leaving the alternate 666 bytes original. The reasoning behind distributing wiping malware is still unclear, as it provides little gain to the distributor othe
Hi'ya peeps! Chrome has just started to throw up a message to me asking for my Windows password when I click the 'show passwords' in 'manage your website passwords' section of the settings. I'm wanting to know a password as one of the sites I have one saved for is rejecting it. I don't know my Windows password, don't think I ever have, so I wonder if you can tell me where I can find it and why Chrome has started asking this. Puzzled! :@

Windows 10 Fall Creators Update / VMWare Could not get snapshot information: Insufficient permission
Hi, This is affecting me, as well as others that work with VMware and use Webroot. Deactivating Webroot resolves the issue, which is why I would like to document this in this forum, just in case others are also having this problem. If you install the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update Build 1709, and have VMWare (14.0 / 12.5.x) installed, before you update to Windows 10 Build 1709 VMWare works fine, after you upgrade to Windows 10 Build 1709 you are no longer able to start any virtual machines. Directories used by VMWare are locked in such a manner that VMWare is no longer able to access the directories. The reported error is Could not get snapshot information: Insufficient permission to access the file. Module 'Snapshot' power on failed. Failed to start the virtual machine. Here a link to the VMWare forum decribing the issue in more detail: https://communities.vmware.com/message/2714417#27
Written ByBrandon LeBlanc published October 7, 2020 Hello Windows Insiders, today we’re releasing Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 20231 to Windows Insiders in the Dev Channel. What’s new in Build 20231Improving relevancy of initial device setupBased on feedback, we’re exploring adding a page to Windows setup (OOBE) to help better understand how you plan to use your device and aid in customizing your device given your intended usage. This is the initial wave of work for this feature, and Insiders may notice different options presented in OOBE depending on what they select, however at this time Insiders will not notice any other configuration differences after exiting OOBE. We look forward to sharing future improvements in this space. This feature is rolling out to a subset of Insiders in the Dev Channel at first, to help us quickly identify issues that may impact performance and reliability. Rest assured they will be gradually rolled out to everyone in the Dev Channel. NOTE: You will see
For example, I have a microphone beside my log in for new voice. I tried to research what they all indicate and could find no definitions. I found 2 pages, 1 lists all of the ranks and the other has definitions but excludes New Voice. Thanks

Nvidia chief executive Jen-Hsun Huang strolled on stage at a Game Developer Conference presentation from Epic Games, casually announced the new flagship GeForce Titan X graphics card, autographed it, and left. So that happened. After spending the better part of two hours launching its Nvidia Shield gaming set-top box/console on Tuesday night, Huang took everyone by surprise when he launched the Titan X on Wednesday morning. “We have launched the most advanced GPU ever but and [given] the first one to Tim Sweeney,” the founder of Epic Games, Huang said on stage. After announcing the Titan X and some of its specs, Huang autographed the massive GPU module with a flourish—“To Tim, with love, Jen-Hsun” waved goodbye, and left. The Titan X
Getting a little paranoid about windows 10 I decided to check out goings using the WR firewall. I set it to ‘warn if any process connects to the internet unless explicitly allowed.’ and blocked the long list of Active Connections which took a hour I then carried on as normal All browsers worked as did email with no warnings whatsoever so I concluded There must be a hidden whitelist or a bug So my question is how can I make it work

By SOMINI SENGUPTA | New York Times – 4 hours ago MENLO PARK, Calif. — Mark Zuckerberg, the co-founder and chief executive of Facebook, said the company has developed new software to showcase the social network on mobile devices powered by Google’s Android operating system. “Today our phones are designed around apps, not people,” said Mr. Zuckerberg at a news conference at Facebook’s headquarters. “We want to flip that around.” Home converts the Facebook news feed into the home screen on the user’s phone. Pictures take up most of the real estate, with each news feed entry scrolling by like a slide show. Messages and notifications pop up over the home page. To “like” something on the newsfeed requires no more than a double-tap. Facebook apps are within easy reach, making the phone essentially synonymous with the Facebook ecosystem. The company will not show ads immediately on the phone home screen, which Facebook is calling Cover Feed, but it is very li

The story said only a processional could detecy if your computer was infected with the virus that allowed that to happen. Is Webroot protecting me against such an intervention? I have noticed that Webroot Community site is displayed on my Android phone (in Opera mobile) in the full interface instead of mobile. Something had to be changed on your end because I have set the mobile view as default in Opera mobile browser and I was viewing the site in mobile interface until Friday or Saturday (sorry but I cannot recall exactly, I have been on visit in my friend's wine cellars). I cleared cache, temps etc. but to no avail. Everytime I go on the Community it is displayed in the full. Before that, the mobile view was always showed.
