Last night I downloaded the latest version of Microsoft's malicious tool removal.  I see Microsoft is up to no good again.  Following the download, I notice a desktop icon labeled Mcafee.  I went into programs and features and uninstalled Mcafee anti virus software and then I followed up with ccleaner for the remaining remants.  I don't use Macafee and didn't ask for it.  No where on the MS site, before downloading the malicious tool did it say, hey you also get Macafee for free!  Not a good practice.

I very much doubt that to be the case as Microsoft has never been known to promote 3rd party application of this type.

Hi Julie,

I also don't think Microsoft would add McAffee to that download/install. Are you sure you didn't install something other then the Microsoft Malicious Tool? Do you think it's legit? Just saying that Microsoft does not add McAffee to there downloads or sites.

Microsoft's Malicious Tool removal is downloaded with Microsoft Updates. All you need to do in your Search is type "MRT" and there it is.;)

? you don't need to download Microsoft's Malicious Software Removal Tool as it downloads once a month during Patch Tuesday as they are always updating it. Also are you downloading it from here?
