Moonchild Productions has released a major update to its Firefox browser variant for Windows with the release of Pale Moon 25.0 and Pale Moon x64 25.0, which sees the browser drop support for Windows XP.
Version 25.0 sees the version number jump for the first time since the browser forked away from its Firefox parent due to major changes in the way the browser identifies itself.
Pale Moon 25.0 debuts a new browser GUID (Globally Unique IDentifier) to properly differentiate itself from Firefox, plus solve a number of what Moonchild terms as "development issues" that were holding the browser back. Unfortunately, the new GUID creates implications for a number of Firefox add-ons that hard-code the Firefox GUID into them, including AdBlock Plus.

Pale Moon is a wonderful browser (default for me), and ever under devoted and progressive development.
This new release is a big step for Pale Moon, especially away from the Australis-esqe, Firefox obsessive Rapid Release (a la Chrome) strategy. I wish them every Success.
Pale Moon currently has approx 500,000+ users worldwide, and I wouldn't be surprised to see deserved future growth.

I will give a full reply to your Google question if you like, but we'd probably be here from now till Christmas!! LOL!
Suffice to say that I have nothing from Google (to best of my knowledge, or if found secure-delete) on any of my main machines for some years past.
They are 'wolves' that often try to present themselves in 'sheep's clothing' to attract more.

At present some extensions aren't fully compatible, and this is being worked on.

Sorry, but I have not much knowledge of Waterfox. I believe K-Meleon is a good browser also, but don't use it presently.
I nearly exclusively use Pale Moon, except for a few places where I prefer to use IE11.

I have been a long time Firefox user but the Latest version has been giving me so much grief with CPU usage and the Memory well that's another story!

That's a lot of RAM usage you're seeing, even though I know you've probably got 8-16 gigs onboard, but still. And over time with a bit of memory leak, many tabs open etc. it can become noticable.
I don't know how FF 32 etc perform, as I've steered clear of the Australis interface, and other considerations also.
I do have FF ESR 24.8.1 installed, just for checking, testing etc. and that will become unsupported in a few days ahead.
Why not see how Pale Moon performs for you, For me it uses a bit less RAM than FF (but with more add-ons), and I don't see any CPU issues.

It looks like it's a keeper for me! I see that the Webroot Extensions are not installed even after reboot so I would think a clean Reinstall of WSA will do the trick?

It's awesome it feels like an older version of Firefox and a few of my Extensions don't work but I can live without them! Also since this is a new version it has many [u] files and under Identity Shield it was set under Block and set it to Protect and the WSA Tray Icon has the Padlock on it and as well the search annotations! I will contact Support to get the files Whitelisted ASAP!

Thanks TH, I have only one add-on that is non-functional (Privacy Badger), otherwise I've been quite lucky with compatibility.
They're working hard to get things sorted, but with such a divergence of paths now, away from Firefox, it may take a little while before things fully settle.

I got Ad Block Edge from Pale moon's forum as I like it better than AdBlock Plus! ColorfulTabs, FlagFox and Download Status Bar all work from Firefox add-on site!

Palemoon Forum say that they are still in the Before Pale Moon for Mac is release-ready as an official publish, a few things still need to be addressed. Anyone with Mac build knowledge aside from the maintainer (cyansmoker) is welcome to contribute.
- Check if Mac builds complete. LibVPX was updated for v25 and compilation needs to be checked. If the build is bust, this needs to be fixed. Matt A. Tobin has been in charge of mangling the mozbuild system to make this lib build on the Pale Moon tree, so if there are issues with building, contact him and work out a patch.
- Mac theming needs to be worked on to bring it in line with the Windows and Linux versions of Pale Moon
- Mac packaging needs to be worked on to pull in the status bar code as part of packaging. It's currently missing from packaged versions. In the interim, maybe it's easier to make an .app bundle with everything properly included?
- The Mac OSX version of Pale Moon is still very much in development. Your assistance in bringing this build to fruition is greatly appreciated, but you can expect there to be bugs and problems for a while yet!
So I'll be waiting till the bugs are worked out! I'm using FF for now!

Interesting thread on what browser works best for you. Now I've tried Pale Moon did not like it was not comfortable with it. I went back to Firefox...............CPU usage was high and the web pages did not open as fast as I wanted it to.........................so I finally went back to Google Chrome and love it...........................the browser does what I needed and the web pages load fast...so with that said it all boils down what you like not what you hear on the hype about any given browser.

Im on the point of uninstalling the FF ESR version, and was only keeping it to cross-check e.g. examples of things observed by FF/WSA combo and PM/WSA combo, but can see no compelling reason to have Firefox anymore, even though also they are now 2 very seperate Browser Projects.@ wrote:
