Why does my wireless HP Envy 4500 printer stays offline even after I reset my modem and router?

I purchased an HP Envy 4500 wireless printer with my HP 15 laptop. It continues to go offline even after resetting my modem and wireless router. It will work for a minute and then go offline again. Has anyone else had this problem and have a better solution than recycling the mode, router and turning the printer on and off?

Hello rarip,

Welcome to the Community Forum,

Please go to thie HP website here for your printer troubleshooting. There you will see if you have any issues with your printer.  Or an updated driver/firmware.

I've worked with alot of HP printers and this seems to be a very good solution.

If this doesn't help then please get back to us and we will investigate further!

  • Attempt to set the printer to online. Go to "Settings" and then "Printers." Right-click on the printer and select  Use Printer Online.
  • Clear any print jobs. Double click on the printer, then go to the "Printer Menu" and select "Cancel All Documents." There could have been a stuck print job that would cause the printer to go offline. Try once again to set the printer back online and try printing a test page.
  • Toggle the printer off, then back on. Check to see if the printer is jammed. Check all the network connections to make sure none are loose.
  • Restart the computer. If this doesn't work, you will have to reinstall the drivers. Go to "Settings" then "Printers" and select the printer. Right-click on the printer and choose "Properties." Under the "General" or "Details Tab" look for the driver button and select it and choose the driver again. You may also have to download the driver from the printer manufacturer's website.

I am having the same issue. I did call HP Support and they stated it was an IP address issue and also that csrss.exe is on my laptop twice and one could be spyware. They also said the webroot did not protect my computer when I use the internet. Wanted to 'clean it up' for a fee of course but I declined. My printer issue was not resolved.

If you are experiencing issues with your printer, it would be best if you continue to work with HP support. If you believe that Webroot is involved, please submit a ticket and our support team will be happy to assist you further.

I have purchased another printer since this one is 3 years old. Will see if this one works wirelessly. Does webroot security protect internet use?

I have had the same problem.. Contacted HP because the computer was on Wi Fi and I disconnected it and wanted to just use the modem.. I did allow hewlett PACKARD to go into the computer and I am able to use the printer, but I need to ok it to by pass the wifi. I would call it a temporary fix....It is still annoying.

You can also reinstall the HP envy 4500 Software or Driver on your PC to resolve printer offline problem.
