I'm noticing that after i keep my lap top on for more than 1 day, my ram usage with nothing open goes from about 2 gigs of ram to 9 gigs just being on doing nothing (windows 10 64 bit).

The only thing i can find that might be causing it is in virtual memory the no paging file needs to be set, is anyone else having this high ram usage issue? Does anyone have a resolution for this or wait for the next update?

Hello,

Have you looked at Task Manager to see what process's are using the Memory? http://www.howtogeek.com/108742/how-to-use-the-new-task-manager-in-windows-8/

See here as well: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_10-performance/windows-10-high-memory-usage/8a8b3270-89ef-42b0-b41e-ae3f5fe48629?auth=1

Thanks,

Daniel 😉

Of course, it seems it was mostly a windows process, after doing some searching, some people said it was the runtime broker, i saw that wasn't the case, so i turned on no paging file, rebooted, haven't had an issue since, but i don't want to just keep it set to that because i noticed it reloads sometimes and hangs the browser when i'm online, but the ram issue is back to normal. I just was hoping for a fix.

I have no such issues with my 4 Windows 10 versions so i don't think it has to do with WSA in any way.

I agree and it doesn't, WSA is running less then 10 Mb of ram all the time pretty much and has been a dream.

You should have at least 1GB of Pagefile for any Windows Dump Files.

thanks after all my research i was using this https://www.reddit.com/r/Windows10/comments/3gchva/system_high_ram_usage/

I'll switch it back the way it was and test it again, thanks for the link.

Edit,

BTW i have 24 gigs of ram, just didn't see anything other than a windows process that was on top, i manually closed all chrome in task manager, just not sure how it went from 2 to 9 gigs

No I wouldn't recommend that info as they say:

"The first one helped me out and got my system ram usage to 0,1, I am aware that this is a TEMPORARY fix, but I'm glad it's sorted out for now, thanks for your contribution and help guys!"

That's actually what made me type this post, I want a permanent fix. It sounds like I'll just have to wait for an update, but i switched the settings back and I'll keep an eye on it, thanks again 🙂

after just a little bit, it's already up to 7.1 gigs of ram mostly from server host: local system after reverting back, again nothing else is going on. Nothing is open, again, not sure what's going on?

Edit now at 11.8 gigs with nothing happening.
Hi skippystyles,

If you haven't already, perhaps try a tool llike Process Explorer to try and help you track down the source of your high RAM usage. Thjis tool provides very detailed analysis of the processes running on your system.

Just a thought. Hope you get it figured out. ;)

Hi skippystyles

Alternatively you could use a dedicated tool like RAMMap which is "...an advanced physical memory usage analysis utility for Windows Vista and higher." KIT is from thesame source as ProcessExplorer, i.e, Sysinternals, but i have found it easier to use than the latter due to it being focussed specifically on RAM usage.

Hope that helps also?

Regards, Baldrick
Good call, Baldrick. I would just download the whole Sysinternals Suite as it contains many useful tools. ;)

It came to me this morning that I remember chatting with @ about this issue I had at one time and the only way I could fix it was a clean reinstall of Windows 10 Pro so in the end I never did find why my Memory usage was creeping up for no reason. Also I don't see this issue since the Clean reinstall of Windows so I Don't know if it was because of this or not:

I figured out the issue, I use malwarebytes 3.0.6 free, i tried this on 2 computers btw, but when i run a full scan, the ram usage goes up over 1 gig for my computer that has 8 gigs and goes up over 4 gigs for my computer that has 24 gigs, when i close the program, these stay at the same until i restart my computer.  So Malwarebytes after their new "version 3" is the issue as an on demand scanner, since then, if anyone is interested, i used zemana as an on demand scanner and had no issue for ram usage (neither of these found anything because webroot has been awesome blocking stuff so far) just mentioning for this ram usage thread.

Thanks so much for the Help again
