Introducing Windows 10 - the best Windows yet

 The next major version of Windows, Windows 10, will be available late next year. The new operating system is being unveiled today at an event in San Francisco, where Microsoft announced its name and has begun detailing new features, including the return and makeover of the Start Menu, the introduction of multiple desktops, and a new universal search feature. Microsoft isn't hiding that, for mouse and keyboard users, this is a move back toward what Windows users are used to and away from the contentious changes in Windows 8. "It gives the familiarity of Windows 7 with some of the elements of Windows 8," Windows chief Terry Myerson says.
While most PC owners won't start using Windows 10 for a while, developers and enthusiasts can get started much sooner. Microsoft will begin to release Technical Previews of the Windows 10 tomorrow, starting with a version for laptops and desktops and following later with a version for servers. The releases will be early, unpolished, and likely buggy versions meant to allow those with technical knowhow to begin working with the platform. It sounds as though just about anyone interested will be able to sign up to use it through Microsoft's newly launching Windows Insider Program, and Microsoft suggests that it's pretty serious about getting customer feedback before the operation system's proper release.

Don't click on the EXE file unless you are willing to install the Preview on the PC it's best to do it inside a VM or a Clone of a VM!!!!!!!!!!!!

I went into Windows Update and had to Uninstall the downloaded EXE file as on Reboot it want's to install on the PC!!!
 


 
 
And after Uninstalling the EXE it wipes the Windows Update History but all Updates are still installed!

 Windows Technical Preview is here today, but it’s a long way from done. We’re going to make it faster, better, more fun at parties...you get the idea. Join the Windows Insider Program to make sure you get all the new features that are on the way. If you’re okay with a moving target and don’t want to miss out on the latest stuff, keep reading. Technical Preview could be just your thing.
 

Download and install the preview only if you

 
  • Want to try out software that’s still in development and like sharing your opinion about it.
  • Don’t mind lots of updates or a UI design that might change significantly over time.
  • Really know your way around a PC and feel comfortable troubleshooting problems, backing up data, formatting a hard drive, installing an operating system from scratch, or restoring your old one if necessary.
  • Know what an ISO file is and how to use it.
  • Aren't installing it on your everyday computer.
We're not kidding about the expert thing. So if you think BIOS is a new plant-based fuel, Tech Preview may not be right for you.

Just noticed that the german download is still not available; perhaps they wait for the presentation at the partner conference in Germany.

Hi everyone, I’m Gabe. As Joe mentioned last week, I lead the Data & Fundamentals Team here in the Operating Systems Group (OSG). My team is responsible for a number of things, but the one I’m most excited about right now is that we’re helping to review and understand all of the feedback we get from you folks via the Windows Insider Program, and working with all of our feature teams to make changes based on what we hear. You can expect to hear from me going forward on anything regarding the Windows Insider Program – including new builds we release.
 
New build:
 
As a matter of fact, we’re rolling out a new build today – Build 9860! This is the first update build to Windows 10 Technical Preview, and we’ll continue to deliver more as part of the Windows Insider Program. Sometimes they’ll be more frequent and sometimes there will be longer gaps, but they will always be chock full of changes and improvements, as well as some bugs and things that are not quite done. As we’ve said, we’re sharing stuff early and moving quickly to do so. In fact, the build that we’re rolling out today is something that we ourselves only got a little over a week ago! I hope that you’re as excited about seeing these early builds as we are to share them with you and hear your feedback.

I get a lot of questions about when Microsoft is planning to launch Windows 10. I'm sure Microsoft execs do, too.
In this photo from September, Microsoft Operating Systems Group chief Terry Myerson unveiled the initial Windows 10 roadmap. This week, Chief Operating Officer Kevin Turner elaborated a bit on that roadmap.

 On December 4, Turner covered Windows 10, along with Microsoft's evolving business model, during his appearance at a Credit Suisse Technology Conference appearance.
 
Turner told attendees that Microsoft is still on track to "talk about the end-user consumer experiences in the early spring" of 2015. He also said Microsoft will have a "developer preview" in the early summer.
"And then by next late summer and early fall we'll be able to bring out this particular OS. That's the current plan of record."

Microsoft is pushing an update out for Windows 10 to prep for FBL_Awesome

 The head of Microsoft's Windows Insider program has announced that the company is preparing to release another update for Windows 10 build 9879, which will lay the foundations for the next build that is coming next month.
As we broke the news earlier this week, FBL_Awesome is the build that Microsoft will release in January at its Windows 10 event. The update that is going out today is to make sure that your update will go smoothly when the new build is released.
