Hi, quick question - we have a client who is having some issues with employees and contractors downloading porn onto company computers. Can this be blocked using Endpoint protection - or do we need to deploy web security service?

I'm guessing Endpoint protection would block the sites they are getting this from if they were malicious - but as it appears they are not, and the porn is getting downoaded, web security service is needed.

Any confirmation on what we need to do would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Wayne

Yes, you need WSS to do this. WSA provides no management ability of the web shield nor any categories.

I'm still pestering them to integrate the WSS proxy client into WSA.

Thanks Explanoit - exactly what I thought- the integration would be a good thing IMHO - why deploy twice? Deploy once and turn on options - much easier cross sell without rollout costs involved.
Likely put more of the product in production that way as well.

Oh yeah, you have no idea. We'd probably sub up to 100% WSS coverage if I could just flip a switch in a WSA policy. Right now we run about 30%.
I'll pester them again next week on your behalf 🙂

Feel free to do so - We are a reseller and an MSP - TWT Group if they need to know who we are - support this 100%, one of those "Why isn't it" questions.

I will not unnecessarily create a new topica so ...

1 - great idea with WSS proxy in the WSA !!!

2 - is there a chance in the future for a white / black list of websites created from the WSA console?
