I need a security solution for a server and 15 end users

Hello,
I need to purchase and install antivirus for a client's office network, consisting of :
  • one server on Windows Svr Std 2012 R3
  • 15 laptops and desktops on Windows 8.1
I was thinking of getting 15 Webroot SecureAnywhere User Protection and one Webroot SecureAnywhere Web Security Service, but I'm not sure the Web Security Service is the right product.

Is it compatible with the server operating system?
If I put this security product on the server, are the end user devices still in need of individual protection?

Thanks a lot!

Hi @  and welcome to the Webroot Community!

What exactly are your requirements?

WSA User Protection and Web Security Service are two different products. The first offers malware protection for your clients, the second does webfiltering. You will have to install both on every device which you want to protect.
With WSA User Protection you can protect up to 4 devices per User(Windows/mobile/...), if your clients user only have one single device then WSA Endpoint Protection will be the right solution as it's cheaper.

Webroot SecureAnywhere Endpoint/User Protection does support Server 2012 R2 and Windows 8.1.
I haven't found out if Web Security Service also supports the newer Windows versions. Perhaps @ can help here? :)

You'll want the business endpoint product, for AV & malware, which can be installed both on servers and clients:

The Web Security Service is a web content filtering service, and you'll need that for just the client computers if you want to control what types of sites you allow your user to visit (firearms, pornography, gambling, etc.)  You won't need to install that on the server as generally nobody should be browing the web from a server.  Here's info on that product:

We have trials for both, so we recommend trying it out in your environment and seeing how it works for you.  Please let me know if you have any other questions!
Hello, @ , thank you for your clarifications!

What product would you recommend for the server? The client specifically wants the server to be protected, it will have sensitive data stored in a cloud for the computers in the company.

You're very welcome!  You'd use the same endpoint on the server that you do on the laptops.  Since our scanning is cloud based it is so lightweight that it won't affect the server performance at all.
