I am curious as to why an endpoint would show up in my Deactivated Endpoint group when I did nothing to put it there. Also when I go to the computer that has the deactivated endpoint it seems to work fine so I have no idea why it is there. Anyone have any ideas? I do not want to click on reactivate till I know what is going on.
Webroot for business Web shield
Dear, In the console of webroot for business there is an option to activate the web shield. Can somebody explain me how this is working? Will there be an addon installed in the browser? Is there any check on a search or website you try to access? thank you!
Knowbe4 RanSim Ransomware Simulator
I recently discovered this ransomware simulator test from KnowBe4: https://www.knowbe4.com/ransomware-simulator Actually found this on Spiceworks: https://community.spiceworks.com/topic/1874415-ransomware-simulator-we-failed It simulates 5 different types of ransomware, and allows you to see if your security solution will protect you from it. I had a new laptop that I had just provisioned for a user (I am an MSP), and after I installed Webroot SecureAnywhere Endpoint (Business), I decided to test how Webroot would fair. I am dissapoiinted to say that accoding to the results it failed 5 out of 5. Webroot did quarantine the installation package when I attempted to copy it over to the laptop, but after recovering it from quarantine I was able to install it and run the simulator. One person in the Spicework community post stated that
Slow updates with weboot AEM integration?
We administer Webroot that is integrated with AEM (Autotask Endpoint Management) and that works reasonably fine. According to our policy webroot is supposed to be installed automatically with the installation of the AEM agent, and sometimes this installation takes place instantly. In other cases, it might literally take more than a day before Webroot is installed and overall any change in webroot administration from AEM-level can take a really long time to kick in. Has anyone who uses Webroot with AEM integration possiby experienced the same problem, and can that be remedied?
Can malicious software uninstall Webroot?
I started getting pop-ups on my browser (Chrome for PC). I looked in the system tray, and the Webroot icon was there. That's curious, I thought. So I clicked on the Webroot icon. It vanished! That's weird, I thought. So I used Explorer to go restart Webroot, and the whole Webroot folder was missing from c:program files and c:program files (x86). Weird. So I visited the GSM console, and found that my endpoint had been deactivated. Oh oh... So I ran a few different malicious software removal programs. Hitman Pro found and deleted a Chrome extension and deleted it. I reinstalled Webroot, and the icon came back.
Problem patching Adobe Acrobat with Webroot SecureAnywhere running
We use Shavlik for automated patching, and it seems like Adobe patching is problematic with Webroot installed. If I try to manually install an Adobe patch I keep having to hit retry when files are being copied to the install dir.
Update on Winlogin 4005 & Terminal Servers
Update on Winlogin 4005 & Terminal Servers: Webroot has been actively tracking and monitoring an issue that affected some customers operating Terminal Servers in a virtualized environment. Following intensive root cause analysis, Webroot is changing its recommended server defaults for any servers with protection and remediation enabled. Webroot now recommends that its Self-Protection function is set to ‘Minimum’ on all Server Policies. Webroot’s in house, and external customer based testing has proven that changing this setting from Maximum/Medium to Minimum significantly reduces the frequency of Winlogin 4005 errors in most cases. Our agent supports 3 self-protection settings. These settings offers a range of granularity to ensure that our software is compatible with the widest range of servers, enterprise environments, product mixes, operating systems, platforms, and browsers. Selecting ‘minimum’ still provides a high level of security but it be
Webroot affecting USB Scanners
Hello! I work as an IT technician for my company and we've recently decided to use Webroot as our main anti-virus internally. However, upon installing onto the machines in the warehouse; the USB plug-and-play barcode scanners were not working at all. I theorised it was the firewall and played around with the config until the firewall was disabled on these endpoints. Now after installing the software, the scanners are reading barcodes incorrectly and entering them into the system (Excel/Netsuite) incorrectly too. As you can imagine, this is a real hassle for the warehouse staff as they rely heavily on their scanners. Any ideas? (All are accepted) Thanks
Endpoint not appearing in Console
Hi Everyone, I'm pretty new to Webroot so I'm not sure of all the "ins and outs" yet. I installed Webroot on a users computer, but it has not shown up in my console as a protected device yet. I entered the key-code and it has been over 24 hours, so I'm not sure whats up. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance!
WEBROOT AND ACOMBA INSTALLATION
Hi Webroot Community, I am having trouble when installing Acomba on Webroot protected PCs. I tried to exclude C:Fortune (the installation folder of the software). Normally, I exclude that folder and the extensions ( *.FDW, *.FIW, *.DBF, *.CDX). It doesn't seems to work. The files are getting detected as bad and when I do a scan, it cleans the files. I don't know if my override is made correctly.
Webroot right click on folder or file scan not working
On several installations of Webroot SecureAnywhere (about 2% of clients installed) the option is available to scan a folder or file (right click the folder or file and then click the Scan with Weboot) but then when you do that, nothing happens. It appears that the scan just never runs. No scan registers in the scan logs. - Googling "webroot right click scan not working" clearly shows lots of folks are having this issue. - I have called support on this and the tech (though very, very green -- I think it was his first day) said Weboot was aware of this issue and was working on a fix. This was a few months ago and I'm not seeing any changes on these clients as they upgrade agents. - This is not a policy issue. All clients run under the same policy (recommended default) and most work. - The most cited resolution in Google links is to remove the client and reinstall. - I have done that on one client and now, the option
Refresh configuration -- what does it do?
The default polling setting of one day is fine for normal operations. But when one is troubleshooting, being able to immediately reset a policy item would be helpful. I was hoping that the Refresh configuration option of the client agent would take care of this, but I don't see that happening. When I run that on a client (open Webroot system icon and right click) I get the following message: "You are currently using the newest Secureanywhere software. With this version, Secureanywhere automatically updates the software and no longer downloads threat definitions. Threat protection is now performed "in the cloud" and is always up to date" That leads me to beleive that Refresh configuration doesn't do anything and that I need to rely on the polling interval for configuration changes to take place. Is that correct? If so, is the only way to address this to create a policy that polls faster and move systems to the group
Allow user configuration within policies under WSA
Do I have the ability within my MSP WSA console, to assign the ability to make changes to the endpoint user interface? In other words, I've allowed the endpoint GUI in a specific policy but when the end user opens the GUI, they cannot make any changes. I get the attached message below.
