Server 2012R2, VMware WRSA is spiking my clients CPU usage to 100% at random times of the day
Server 2012R2, VMware WRSA.exe is spiking my clients CPU usage to 100% at random times of the day. This has been an ongoing battle and eventually we have to reboot the server. Not sure where to start on this. Thanks!
Webroot blocked file in folder with path override
We recently experienced that webroot blocked a good file as a threath, even if it was placed in a folder where we have a path override. Tested with Eicar that the override works, so why did it block the file. Anyone else experienced this? Any solution?
Version 188.8.131.52 having issues with file shares -Recommend not updating
We have found after some deployments of the newest version that a percentage of clients are having issues with files on Windows file shares. With some clients, Excel spreadsheets are showing as blank upon opening. In our case, every time Webroot is closed, the file share issues go away. We have an open case with Webroot. They have told us this issue was discovered and known (as of this time, it is still not posted on the forum's "Known Issues"), but we received conflicting reports; some techs knew the issue, but other people higher up at that point did not. This pointed to us for a real need for communication within Webroot, as it seems like the left hand may not know what the right hand is doing. At this time, I would actively discourage any MSP or large business client from updating past 184.108.40.206. In fact, my topic is also a request: I need the MSI file from 220.127.116.11 so we may roll back our clients, and more importantly, I nee
Times shown are different depending on where you are in GSM.
When viewing info in main sites screen of GSM the times shown there do not appear to be adhering to the selected time zone as shown in first screen shot. When going to the actual site and viewing info there the time is shown correctly as in the second screen shot. Is there something I am missing in setup? Time Wrong - Shows 05:56 ? Time Correct - Shows 12:56 ?
Print jobs blocked from Citrix Receiver
I have just implemented Webroot for one of my clients. As soon as Webroot was installed people started reporting printer related issues. I thought there was no way this could be related, but after disabling webroot on a few machines and seeing the print jobs start going through with no problem, I have to lament. My clients primary software runs on a Citrix Xenapp server. My clients connect using Citrix Reciever. They print constantly throughout the day, so I have temporarily disabled Webroot till I can resolve this. The software provider is of little to no help with these issues as the technical support team has all but been completely segmented off to another part of the company. The weirdest part is it does not block all jobs for all individuals. When we first installed it people seemed to be printing with no issues, then the next day people started complaining. So it isnt like it is blanket blocking these print jobs. &nb
18.104.22.168 Release Question
Finally 22.214.171.124 has been released. My growing issue with WebRoot is that it is taking months for you to resolve issues like this. That version of Windows 10 launched October 17, 2017. It took you three months to release a version of your product that works. Meanwhile your partners have spent countless hours trying to debug issues that ultimately were caused by WebRoot. For many of my customers I have had to move on to other products that were fully compatible with Windows 10 Fall Creator's update. There are several WebRoot related issues over the past year that has taken WebRoot months to resolve. Why is WebRoot non responsive towards these issues? How can I have confidence in a product that I have to disable key parts of the program in order for it to work? Does this same lackadaisical approach apply to protecting my customers from viruses and malware?
sylog or more robust API access needed
The need to take syslog or get more info from the cloud API is a dire need for us. It is so much a part of any compliance framework. I know in the past I have been told that syslog support is coming. But it seems to be just a talking point. How can this product be called enterprise if we can't get vital information out of it?
Webroot Uninstall Breaks Network Connection - Win10
After uninstalling SecureAnywhere v126.96.36.199 (Windows 10) both ethernet and wireless connections become unidentified. If I restore point back to when Webroot was still on, network works fine. Remove Webroot and reboot, networks go unidentified again. SFC = no integrity problems. Removed NIC drivers and reloaded, nope. Any thoughts? Been working on this for two days now.
How do I shut down Webroot for more than one reboot?
Hi - I'm running Endpoint Protection 188.8.131.52 on a windows 7 pro machine. Trying to upgrade to Win10, which requires multiple reboots. Upgrade fails when Endpoint comes back on after the first reboot - at least that appears to be the issue. I'd like to test it by disabling Webroot until I manually re-enable it. Is there a way to disable protection indefinitely or for some fixed period of time rather than "until the next reboot"? Thanks!
Does Webroot have a response for the test results described in the Q3 2016 MRG-Effitas test report?
See the report at https://www.mrg-effitas.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/MRG-Effitas-360-Assessment-Q3-2016.pdf . Thanks.
Block execution of unknown software
Through testing some "unknown to Webroot (or any other AV)" malware, I feel WebRoot may be insufficient protection for my clients. By allowing untrusted code to run, it seems a lot of ransomware can get through without a lot of difficulty (the first ransomware-as-a-service a colleague tried with Webroot was successful while other well known competing AVs were able to block it with their own heuristics. Webroots heuristics were turned to max also. While it might be possible to do rollback, WebRoot doesn't do rollback on network drives and unknown applications are allowed access to these resources. Since this is often deployed as a business AV solution, this is unacceptable. Is there functionality in WebRoot currently, or that could be easily added to straight up block execution of unknown executables (as a configurable option of course) -- ideally whitelisting anything SIGNED by a trusted entity (eg. Microsoft)? Or is there a way I can already do this? I know that I could u
MODERATE RISK ICON
Hello, My client and I are concerned about the MODERATE RISK ICON(s) next his site in search engine results. Besides being a fairly new site what are reasons behind it and what can we do to upgrade his status to TRUSTWORTHY? URL: saratogaproxy.com Thanks in advance Karl Bischoff
Is there a way to get the version number from the command line WRSA.exe with a switch?
I'm looking for a command line switch to see the version number of the currently installed version of Webroot SA without having to wait for a poll to the console. I know that I can do WRSA.exe -poll and force an update, but it's very hard to see the version number when you have the system tray icon hidden from the end user.
Scan via web console W7 to W10 remote laptop
Hi I am currently testing WR end point with the intention of introducing it to my customer base. I am a managed provider and will be using the web console (WC) to manage my clients. I have tested on W7 PC's so far all ok but our W10 remote office laptop stopped scanning over a week ago even though I initiated several manual scans to no avail? Any ideas? xT
Detection & Scan Functionality for Non-PE Files
I was told the following by tech support today:

"Unfortunately the file (669.f70p53_i_b.dot) is NON-PE. This means the file is a file which does not contain a portable executable header i.e. .dot extension. Webroot is currently only capable of PE malware detection, however the program also contains a heuristics engine for some NON-PE files. In the future, this detection feature will be added."
"Malware downloaders are commonly re-obfuscated and soon all antivirus will not detect examples of the document you have supplied. This is also true for malware in general."
This was not verbatim but basically that non-PE files that are manually scanned (Right click, Scan with WebRoot) are not actually scanned or are scanned but WebRoot is mostly unable (depends on the exact file and type) to detect if the file is infected. The proof is that the log file doesn't include an MD5 for the file."
Re. #3, this means that even though the application UI shows: &nb
Unable to uninstall
Webroot secureanywhere endpoint protection doesn't show up in program list to uninstall. running manual command to uninstall giives error that the service is centrally managed and must be uninstalled from webconsole. The customer does not have this info. The customer does NOT have contact with last IT vendor (relationship ended badly). How do I uninstall this borderline-malware, garbage software without formatting and reinstallinng windows?
I am new at using the webroot endpoint security. I had a threat detected on one of my endpoints and I was alerted on the webroot management console dashboard. I clicked on the 1 endpoint protect needs attention to view threat. As usual, it gave me information on the threat and the endpoints affected by the threat. On the very right-hand side, there is a brush icon to clean up the threat. I clicked on to manually clear the threat, all it did was run a scan on that endpoint but it did not remove the threat. The threat is quarantined but it keeps alerting me on the dashboard saying 1 endpoint needs protection. I assumed that I had the ability to manually clear threats on endpoints, but I may be wrong. I had used other endpoint protection software in the past that gave me the ability to manually clear threats on endpoints. If I can get some enlightenment on how threats are cleared, whether if its automatic or manual. I will really appreciate the feedback and responses.
Question about "Endoints need attentions"
Hello everybody I use the MSP console For beginning, in my scan settings, the option of "Automatically reboot remove threats found during background scans" and automatically remove threats found on the learning scan" are up I have some sites with "Endpoints need your attention". So, for this endpoints, are threats in quarantine ? If yes, what is the interest to run a scan manually with the console ? If not, why ? Best regards Alexia
Remote installation via GPO... Error %%1274
I searched first, but didn't find this topic. However, I think there must be more people with this problem. I am trying to deploy via GPO, but several of the machines never accept the installation. The logs show error %%1274, and verbiage like this: "Failed to apply changes to software installation settings. The installation of software deployed through Group Policy for this user has been delayed until the next logon because the changes must be applied before the user logon. The error was : %%1274" "The assignment of application Webroot SecureAnywhere from policy AV Deploy failed. The error was : %%1274" "The Group Policy Client Side Extension Software Installation was unable to apply one or more settings because the changes must be processed before system startup or user logon. The system will wait for Group Policy processing to finish completely before the next startup or logon for this user, and this may result in slow startup and boot performance."
