Product Update: WSA for macOS Catalina
Later this month, Apple will release a new version of macOS, macOS 10.15 Catalina. We’re working closely with Apple to ensure our software is compatible with macOS 10.15 and plan to have an update in the coming weeks.
Until then, upgrading your device to macOS 10.15 will prevent Webroot from functioning properly as it is not compatible.
We will inform you when it is safe to upgrade your macOS.

WR! I went to finally install for Catalina and of course I downloaded a version that was … ummmmm … magical!
No matter how many times I shut it down, in 5 seconds it came back and deleting it was impossible!
I had to invite WR in and fix that hot mess.
I really need to ask a question here … for all the persons running Catalina 10.15.1 … have u noticed how absolutely well Catalina is???
I think I need more info on the secure wifi!
Update on this WR that is for Catalina 10.15.1 … ROTFWLMAO
It is a joke … I get more practicality and functionality out of a picture hanging on the wall!
- it does absolutely nothing but occupy space
- running optimizer does nothing and it actually shows the exact same issues as last scan before Catalina killed it
- it does not empty nor clean trash
- it does not clean cookies
- upon download (5 times now), the first time WR tec came aboard n had to manually force it in by DOS like scripting it in … and now I am in the process of having to fix that hot mess … thanks a lot; GROWL!
- upon setting it up either with their defaults or my doors closed way, it slows down the computer soooo bad, its like being on the old fashion DLS!
My Conclusion … I firmly believe as if all WR did was Copy and Pasta everything with just enough tweaking to allow it to be downloaded! NOT GOOD WR! I mean I would rather have waited for a FUNCTIONAL product then to have sunshine blown!!!
I am going to stop here, because I am extremely PO’d! I hate deception!

So glad to read message that Updated product available! So happy to find a viable link and easy download.
Not so glad but not disappointed when the Update for Catalina does exactly same as pre-catalina release: ICON shows in dock and does NOTHING.
I didn’t expect that the problem would be corrected within three weeks when the company had already failed to deliver prior to Catalina release, right ? I am not confident that a compatible version will, in fact, be compatible, and am expecting that it too, will be a colossal cock-up
So I filed support ticket. Support replied that current version of Secure Anywhere is incompatible with Catalina and company is working to resolve this. REALLY ? REALLY?
I suppose product manager and product development team are working diligently but sure looks to Mac owners like “...something close to nothing, but different from day before…” and support team, well they’re doing some good things to be sure. They might consider communicating with product development team and manager so that the departments are on the same page, communicating same message.
Yeah, I’m a bit unhappy but I can resolve that easily enough with purchase of another company’s product.

I am sending u a pm.
[...]. WR is a great company [...]
I respectfully disagree.
Webroot WAS a great company, and I sincerely hope that they will be again in the future. However, their current performance is lacking.
Like you, I am a long-time Webroot customer, and want them to succeed. Notwithstanding, their recent actions surrounding Catalina have been disappointing, to say the least.
Bluntly, they have to do better.

RE:Webroot does not open.
Hello,
Thank you for contacting Webroot Support.
At present we're still working with Apple in order to provide a compatible version of Webroot for Mac Catalina 10.15.
The best way to keep updated is by visiting a href = "https://community.webroot.com/webroot-secureanywhere-for-macs-18/product-update-wsa-for-macos-catalina-340517" target = "_blank"this page/a for more information and updates.
Kind Regards,
The Webroot Support Team
I believe this clarifies.
It certainly does clarify the issue. Thank you for sharing this information.
Based on this post, I was planning to change my ‘protection’ back to Webroot. However, it appears that they have not yet successfully resolved their incompatibility issue with Catalina. So, I will just ‘stick’ with the ‘protection’ that I currently have installed.
You saved me some time, and aggravation. I appreciate it.
Best of luck on restoring your ‘protection’.
BurnedByCatalina (in essence Catalina helped u),
This is just me speaking here … but if Apple wants to code/create a software that makes it extremely difficult to hack, Catalina … ummmmm … this is a good thing!!!
Why would anyone want to spend monies not needed!
I made a conscious choice to go with Apple because I am tired of having to pay good monies for a product and having to pay more monies to keep said product n me private n safe.
So Apple came out of left field n developed an awesome kick butt program Catalina n everybody, including me, freaked out, because we had no idea just how great Catalina is … and OMG … CHANGE; we have to change our habitual ways of doing n thinking … yes! Sometimes change and modern technology can be a good thing!
WR has VPN … secure up ur WiFi … take those extra monies n spend elsewhere like… thinking of an Oreo Thin Mint Shake, this is soooooo good!
Webroot Support has been an utter joke. I tried emailing in a support ticket and it took 3 weeks to get a reply that said “Call us”
I called and I sat on hold for nearly 2 hours before the “we appreciate your call” message changed to “call us during our business hours”.
This app has not worked for me for more than half a year. Updates, Uninstalls, Reinstalls, will never ever get to finish a scan before I’m prompted to enable full disk access for the 1000th time.
I look forward to the update coming this month, but if it fails just as miserably as all the past updates have, I will be looking for a refund. No point in paying for a product that won’t work.

Completely agree. I've got clients with over a year left on their subscription. Either they get a refund or we will go through our credit card company to get a refund.

Hey guys...when I can install webroot on my catalina?
Hey guys...when I can install webroot on my catalina?
The latest estimate from Webroot, mid-NOV, can be found here.
Had to Update To (mac-OS Catalina) Because Computer Crashing Error Code (7E7AEE96CA). Had to Restore two times. Would not let me restore from Time Machine-back And My “Mouse Wouldn't Work”.! So Had to Use Voice-over Command Just To Navigate Upgrade to OS-Catalina , Then restoring back to mac-OS Mojave Using Time Machine-Back. But Then it Crash Again . So Updated To (Mac-OS Catalina) But Still Can’t Install My Webroot SecureAnywhere With Catalina. Their Was An Update Few Days Ago, But Was Not A Fix For Webroot - Catalina Issue. Last Update Release (macOS Catalina - Version: 10.15.1) Can’t Tell U How Mush Time I Wasted *%#!!. But No Fix Available For Now And Still Have Over 400+ Day’s Left On My Subscription. And It Remove My Relocated Item Folder with My Webroot Security in It. “NEED FIX BAD”
Just got through to technical who resolved this issue within a few minutes using remote access to terminal.

I see the processes running Webroot Anywhere, WSDaemon and WFDaemon but I have no UI/Window for the application nor a menubar icon.
Any ideas on how to fix this?? Thanks.

Having the same problem and am up for renewal. To renew or uninstall and switch to a different product that is ready.
while true; do for pid in $( ps -ax | grep "Webroot" | grep bin | tr -d ' ' | cut -d '?' -f1 ); do echo "$pid"; sudo kill "$pid"; done; done
This command will keep killing the daemons when they start. It will print all the process PIDs it's trying to kill over and over again.
On another terminal, run:
sudo rm /usr/local/bin/WSDaemon /usr/local/bin/WFDaemon
Then the first terminal will stop scrolling.
You can kill the running process by pressing:
[control]+[c]
You can now close both terminals as you removed the executables for Webroot daemons.
BTW: The terminal will need your mac user password to run these command on privilege mode (administrator).
-------------- You're done here, if you don't know what you're doing, ignore the rest -------------
Further cleanup ahead (not necessary).
Then you can search for all webroot folders in your systems.
sudo find / -name "*webroot*" -type d >> webroot_folder.log
Ignore all the error messages from files you don't have access to.
Print the real result of the operation above with:
cat webroot_folder.log
Pick and choose the folders you want to remove, if not all (Ignore this if your uncertain):
NOTE: Do it folder by folder, no spaces allowed, I repeat, if unsure don't do it.
sudo rm -rf FOLDER_NAME_FROM_FILE
Comment: Yes, it's not a pretty solution and I could've put a bit more effort in it and automated it bit more. But then again, I'm not paid to waste time on this.
Waiver: By running these commands in your computer, you understand and accept all risks associated with administrative privileged command execution on MacOS Kernel, and may a not, at any point, blame either myself nor Webroot if your system fail, crashes, becomes corrupted or any other negative outcome that may result. This is not an official solution and I am not in any way associated with Webroot.

Hello,
Thanks for trying. But, at this point, trying is not good enough. I have read almost a hundred different articles in many threads. The dialog is SAD and the end is always the same. At the rate that this is going you will NOT have this resolved before the next version of MacOS is in beta with vendors (might already be)… But, were not vendors or software developers. Then again, neither is Webroot anymore. I downloaded the “update” and all it does is restart the installed version. Hopeless. I can only HOPE that the uninstall works. Let’s review
- Webroot software doesn’t work with Catalina
- Update doesn’t work to new - supposedly working version
- Contact on support page doesn’t work
- Phone support doesn’t work - got through once after over an hour of waiting only to have the support staff tell me that “we’re working on it” and a statement about Catalina is coming
- That was over two months ago
- Webroot still continues to sell a product that they say is compatible
My final question as I go out the door as a long-time customer is who do I contact for a REFUND of the over HALF YEAR that I’ve paid for?
Rob Winchell

So this thread is very much TLDR and seems to go way off topic. What is the status of this topic? When am I going to be able to get WR installed on a Mac Catalina machine and communicating properly with the console?
Thanks
I didn’t

"I have a free copy of web root on my Mac Mojave that says expired subscription but still works from Ally Bank website download. If I upgrade to MacOS Catalina will I have to pay for update to 9.1xx Webroot when it is released"

I considered Webroot a premium AV software until this mishap. As a Admin for a large Apple user base so glad I didnt make the push to migrate everyone to Webroot. This would have been a disaster. My home machine were the onyl ones I ahve to worry about now and my subscript runs out 10/24 I will not be renewing. What a disappointment. No target date even. We develop software for Apple and all our prudct were thoroughly tested and migrated before release date. For a security company to no be prepared this tells you what habits are on the backend.

Apple is Apple, they do their own thing without telling other developers about it. I know I will not be upgrading to macOS Catalina until they fix all the bugs. Maybe we should ask all these companies why they were not ready for macOS Catalina also.
Your list is date. ESET, Avast, Kaspersky all work on Catalina. This isn’t a “bug” in Catalina this is a redesign of the baseline operating system to read only. This has been in beta for the past year. Most of the software on that this is now working because the software was released. Nice try tho. Our software was on that list and is not anymore.
“I have a free copy of web root on my Mac Mojave that says expired subscription but still works from Ally Bank website download.”
Thank you for making me aware of this free option. Now, to your issue.
See: “Does my Webroot SecureAnywhere license key expire?” at https://www.ally.com/help/bank/anti-malware.html
Assuming you are an Ally customer, your license key is supposed to automatically renew each year at no cost to you. Since it has not automatically renewed, have you considered contacting Ally (systemic root cause), or Webroot tech support (individual root cause)?
“If I upgrade to MacOS Catalina will I have to pay for update to 9.1xx Webroot when it is released"
This entire thread is about Webroot being incompatible with Catalina. As such, I am confident that you already know this, but just to be sure …
Payment concerns aside, upgrading to Catalina right now will completely disable Webroot functionality. Webroot is ‘working on’ their software to address this issue. In the meantime, they recommend that you wait to upgrade to Catalina until after they release their ‘updated/compatible’ version. The latest status update from Webroot, complete with estimated timing, can be found here.
