Hello, I have the Android Webroot SecureAnywhere Mobile Complete App (ver. 5.5.6.46428) installed on my Samsung phone.  Yesterday, I was helping my parents (83 & 85 years old) setup their new Motorola phones and was trying to download the Webroot SecureAnywhere Mobile Complete App, but couldn't find it in the Google PlayStore.  The only Webroot App I found is called Webroot Mobile Security (ver. 6.5.0).

1.  Is the Webroot SecureAnywhere Mobile Complete App no longer supported?

2.  Has it been replaced with the Webroot Mobile Security App?

3.  Does the Webroot SecureAnywhere Mobile Complete App still function?  It seems to be running okay on my Samsung Phone?  It runs scans and shows the number of days remaining in my subscription okay.

4.  What is the Webroot Mobile Security App?  Does it still run on demand scans of all files and Apps on Android phones?

5.  It looks like it is only a web browser App that looks at the users browser activity when you use that App (Google Chrome)?

6.  Does it still function if I use FireFox, Edge, or the Samsung Internet Browsers and not the one that shows the Webroot logo?

Thank you very much,

There is a full cloud scanner but it scans on it’s own so it’s fully automatic! See here from my phone!

@TripleHelix , thanks for replying.

Both my parents and me have Webroot for our desktops and an active subscription.  We’ve been Webroot customers since the very early version.  We entered the email address and password for their account on the Webroot Mobile Security App (ver. 6.5.0).  I’m not using a free App.

“ While shopping and banking online, Webroot keeps your identity and data safe by blocking phishing sites, spam sites, malware sites, and other malicious activities.”  Does this mean it is only functional when web surfing from the Webroot App/Browser?

Also, if we use an Android web browser other than Chrome (i.e., Firefox, Edge, Samsung Internet), does this Webroot Mobile Security App do anything?

Thanks,

Not sure about other Browsers but I did ping @AndyMa  @SophiaC  and I will ping some Webroot staff to see if they can get some info from the Android Development team. @khumphrey  @TylerM  When I do things like banking I use my banking app and I use a VPN, I know the v6 Webroot Security for Android is built into a Chromium browser and it does scan for malware and checks your apps on the device and using it’s browser if you go to a bad website it will block it for you. Use this for a test and it should be blocked:  https://keygenninja.com/  as it’s blocked on mine and I tried on Firefox and it wasn’t blocked. Also what king of License do you have? For Android you would need Webroot Internet Security Plus or Complete?

We have the Webroot Internet Security Complete.  I too only do banking and shopping using the provider’s App (i.e., Amazon, Sam’s Club, Macy’s, Chase, etc.).

Web surfing is to a few minimal sites.  But, we share photos/videos via OneDrive or Google Drive.  If I download a file from a friend or family member, I would run the old Android Webroot SecureAnywhere Mobile Complete App (ver. 5.5.6.46428).  Assuming it would detect any problems.

If I receive a file via OneDrive or Google Drive, will the new Webroot Mobile Security (ver. 6.5.0)  detect it?

All marketing hype aside, does the new App really do anything other than watch the websites I visit and files I download via those websites?  I’ve seen some of the reviews that performance is affected by the new App.

I’m hoping that one of the Product Managers or a Developers will come by and say.

Hey everyone,

@AndyMa  @SophiaC  no longer work here as of January 2022.

I do know that only the iOS app is a browser only and will block access to malicious pages like phishing .

The Android mobile app will do this with the browser, but will ALSO scan apks (android packages) and remove anything mobile applications. This includes any apks that would be downloaded from 3rd party sites that want you to “side load”

I will reach out to PMs to see what the exact coverage is

Thanks @TylerM

It would be nice to know what the coverage is, especially if people don’t use the App to browse the Internet.
