after install why cant I access user interface?

installed Webroot on window surface pro with windows 10. after download and a lot of mucking around finally got a scan to happen. i want to go into webroot and configure setting for scans however i keep getting message to contact system administrator for access to user interface.
 
so far not a good start or impression with Webroot. follow all the instructions, only to come up against hurdles and the need to post for help when it should be a simple out of the box install. will be interesting when licence renewal is due for my 4 devices, i will have to rethink decision to go with this application.

Sorry you are having problems with WSA. Most problems are solved with a Uninstall / reinstall.
 
Please follow the steps closely!
 
  • Make sure you have a copy of your 20 Character Alphanumeric Keycode! Example: SA69-AAAA-A783-DE78-XXXX
  • KEEP the computer online for Uninstall and Reinstall to make sure it works correctly
  • Download a Copy Here (Best Buy Subscription PC users click HERE) Let us know if it is the Mac version you need.
  • Uninstall WSA and Reboot
  • Install with the new installer, enter your Keycode and do NOT import any settings if offered by the installer as you can set it up as you like once it's done
  • Let it finish it's install scan
  • Reboot once again

thanks for the advice, sadly even the most logical process hits hurdles. I have tried to uninstall Webroot from my Windows 10 operating system on my surface pro and I receive a message saying that
 
"SecureAnywhere is currently managed by Web Console and all changes need to be applied centrally. Please refer to refer to SecureAnywhere documentation for further information"
 
The result of all this is that I cant uninstall WebRoot, even as the administrator of my own system. Not sure I like that much control for my system by someone externally, when I should be able to manage this process myself.
 
I'm sure there is a fix, however I've spent more time than I need to on chasing this down. Not a good start for a first timer. I have decided not to load WebRoot on my other two devices until some sort of logical process can be underetaken. The other devices are IMacs, and given that I did have an issue loading on my Mac initially this has been resolved. It seems every install has its problems from links not being recognised to no available program on the system capable of running the install.
 
Once again thanks for the advice, but to date a tad futile.

? who has control of your system? Where did you purchase it from? If you got a Boxed version or got it from Webroot then please setup your Online Web Console and set to User Configuration and wait 30 to 45 minutes then do a couple scans then you can set it up as you like: http://live.webrootanywhere.com/content/1332/Webroot-SecureAnywhere-for-PC-Overview

I purchased link and access code through the Australian agent, When i asked about control their response re the settings control was
 
"...The settings, whitelists & blacklists are controlled by the Global site manager, this works well for most people, but I can give you access if you wish...."
 
this is te first time using an anti virus pack that I havent been able to even set the time or frequency of scans, all I can do is right click on the icon and select run scan frompop up menu. If I try to open Webroot i get a message pop up saying to contact network administrator to access the user interface of SecureAnywhere. I assumed this meant the network administrator of Webroot as the program is running on clouds, not a localised install.
 
thanks for the potential solutions, step one would be to try and uninstall the original install and start again, something that seems to be probelmatic given it wont let me unistall from my own device. In answer to your question on who has control on this part of the process, I can only say I have no idea, but I do know its not me...

Well the decision is yours may I ask what Version of WSA you have? Which one of the three? https://www.webroot.com/us/en/home I assume you have the AV only version right? 1 or 3PC's?

thanks once again in persevering with this. The vendor link you have is correct, the company is RD Computer Services pty ltd, they were the vendors for ESET at one stage, which was the AV software I used in the past. The reason I changed to WSA was that RD no loger had the ESET agency, they set up shop in Australia under their own comapny (ESET). After reading reviews on WSA, and given how it works, i thought that it sounded like a great product. RD Comp services were the ones offering it here, probably as a new product given they lost the ESET access. I have dealt with them before so didnt have much reason to have any suspicions.
 
Now that it looks like they sold me an old version and, compared to the web prices, at a hefty price, i'm not that happy. I suppose you learn by your mistakes. One good thing to come out of this is the forum we are using. I haven't posted before, so its another first.
 
I won't bother chasing up a refund although I probably should, but at least I have 12 months subscription to sort this and when it comes to renewing I definitly wont be going through RD! I just need to get what I have up and running. I have the access code etc so hopefully that could be used as part of the solution it should be active for the good part of a year.

Yes most pay to much from places like that and it's better and cheaper to buy directly from Webroot: https://www.webroot.com/au/en/home/ also Webroot supports there products and no need for a third party IMO.
