Computer Security At Risk Message

I have WebRoot antivirus but when I returned from lunch the following message was on the screen: 'Computer Security At Risk. Call Customer Support at 1-888-xxx-xxxx for assistance on how to remove the potential virus.' I had to shut completely down to move on.

Why am I getting this? I don't think WebRoot is protecting my computer like it should and it is current.  I did call the number. A "Tech" said they provide support for Microsoft although the Microsoft name is nowhere on the virus message I recieved. I opted not to accept any "assistance".

Any thoughts?

That sounds very much like a scam and the number is doubtful as well.
Also if a threat is detected Webroot would detect it immediately it was activated so you have no need to worry about it.
