Newbie/ Betting a simple answer to my question...But will help me decide if I should keep WEBROOT
A few months back ,bought my first laptop (A U530 Lenovo from best buy). Came with 1 year of WEBROOT. SHORT HISTORY....This is my second computer--- First was a DELL DESKTOP/year 2000..... Loved that DELL, in it's day, was Considered a serious set up. This new laptop.....makes that DELL look like a 10 dollar calculator! lol 13 years with that DELL.....dealt with NORTON, MACEFFEE,AVAST AVG---ANTI-VIRUS PROGRMS.... Now I got this new laptop, and betting WEBROOT BLOWS AWAY the previously listed anti-virus programs. When I open Webroot, I see the way to change options, I can click on a SCAN NOW........ But , THE QUESTION.... HOW DO I UPDATE(not set update times, but UPDATE with a click?) HOW DO I SEE THAT The computer ever UPDATED? After owning this laptop for months,no Idea if WEBROOT ever updated........Prolly did,,but no idea how to tell? AVAST and AVG always gave the option to "UPDATE NOW"
KB300850 + Chrome 64-bit = WRUSR.dll crashes Chrome
Hello all. I have already opened a support ticket regarding this issue but I would like to inform the community about this issue as well. I think after the installation of the KB3000850 Windows update my 64-bit Chrome stopped working in conjuction with WSA because it constantly crashes. To confirm my suspicions I have checked the event viewer and I've found an entry. As an additional check I've temporarily switched to 32-bit Chrome and it's working again. Just about had enough
I'm about to ditch Webroot AV, I think. I've used it for a year or two (I can't remember now), and was always rather worried that they don't seem able to write a functioning website. When you trust your PC security to a company, you expect them to be able to code a website that works. It never did. I'm reasonably savvy and know things that can cause problems, and avoided them doing so (ad blockers and so on). I've just had the reminder that my subs need renewing in a few weeks, so I followed the link to do so, found my email with my keycode, but the website doesn't recognise it. I tried various things - checked in the program's UI itself - same keycode, tried formatting it, nope, it likes it without dashes even though the control has dashes in the hint text, "XXXX-XXXX....". Navigating the site, I go round in various circles until I work out the stupid logic of it and find my way to my "web console", but unfortunately I've either forgotten my password or it's not working (I use
Windows 8.1 - I run an AutoIt script in startup. Webroot refuses to allow it to execute
Windows 8.1 - I run an AutoIt script in startup. Webroot refuses to allow it to execute. I put it into the list of allowed programs and every time I restart my computer, Webroot stops the execution and wants to remove the program. I deselect the program and continue and it goes into a scan. Even when I manually enter the program into the excedption list, no joy! How do I get around this problem? Don
Webroot Filtering Extension causes quite noticeable slowdown since upgrade to win 8.1 (using Chrome)
Since I upgraded to Windows 8.1, when I enable the Webroot Filtering extension, my computer is very noticably slower. The most obvious way this shows up is using the scroll bar or page up / page down. With the extension enabled, if I do any of the following thing, there is a significant delay: - Page up or down - Grab and drag the scroll bar - Clikc on the up or down arrow on the scroll bar - click on the empty space of the scroll bar above or below the bar itself Things like tabbing through fields on web pages, or clicking in a blank field and waiting for the cursor to appear, or hovering the mouse pointer over a clickable link and waiting for it to turn into a "pointy finger," are also noticably delayed, but not a significantly as the above mentioned page scrolling actions. Is this common? Is there any way to correct it? Should I remove the extension and re-install it? Is there a different extension for windows 8.1 that I need to find? Thanks for any help,

Another year goes by, and Webroot's Webfilter FPs are still a joke!
After stopping to use Webroot and recommending it to any clients, which by the way has made webroot lost so much business because I fix computers for many companies as free lance and this year, I was forced to recommend NOD32 or other solutions due to the high FPs Webroot has which are not accepted in any way! I understand if it's some new site....but the kinds of FPs I get are a joke! I stopped using Webroot myself for a year and now I tried it, and within 30 mins I got my first FP!...... Why didn't you guys fire the guy sitting behind this webfilter who blocks the entire web and only whitlists sites upon request! How hard is it to get a web filter to work right? This thread was blocked by Webroot: http://www.wilderssecurity.com/threads/is-webroot-an-antivirus.371185/ For god's sake! PS: I don't know how to submit FPs to Webroot
If I have WRSA, do I need an anti-keylogger?
I have read a lot about anti key logger software lately. In particular, I found one that says it can prevent anyone from activating your webcam remotely or your VOIP to steal information. I am looking at Spy-Shelter and Zemana's Anti-Logger. Does anyone have any advice about this?

Web Shield breaks Windows Task Manager and Chrome 63 Beta
I have noticed recently that opening the Windows task manager while running Chrome 63.0.3239.84 Beta completely freezes the mouse and computer. Keyboard inputs take about one to two minutes to register. Turning off extensions and running in incognito mode does not help. The new site isolation feature is turned off. The only fix is turning off Webroot's Web Shield and Identity Protection. I am running WIndows 10 Build 1709 on an i7 2630qm based notebook.
Start menu updated ?
started Lenovo laptop this am; I have windows 8.1 (or 8.2?); do not have the old start menu but the window states that "Start Menu updated", with a list of supposed improvements; I can't get rid of or even minimize the window; no source for the update is shown; there is a pre-checked box that refers to lenovo SHAREit; this window remains on top of any other windows that I open; WebRoot scan returns nothing; It appears that the only way to get rid of this window is to click "okay"; task manager shows nothing related to this window. legit? Thanks for your help.
Huge problem and I think it is with Webroot
I did not use my laptop in several months. In the mean time I renewed my webroot subscription. I opened my laptop for the first time, used doing nothing but looking at facebook and there were updates running in the background. Next thing I know there is a message that looks like it if from Webroot that some WOW someting in system32 is trying to access the internet every time I start my computer and if I don't recognize it it is going to be blociked. I had no idea what it was talking about - firefox had a "do you want to update to our new look" and that was the only thing I'd clicked on..... Now, I can't access the internet, and Webroot doesn't work. The rest of the computer works, but, I can't access the internet and the security program is not working.

Antivirus v Application Errors? Help!
:@ Hi Peeps! I have your Webroot SA Antivirus but have been getting a lot of Application Error pop-ups over the last day or so, these say: iexplore.exe Application Error the instruction at 0x03110f22 referenced memory at ox00000001. The memory could not be written. Click on OK to close the programme. Some are slightly different. I've also just had a notice from Microsoft about their Malicious Software Removal Tool Dec 13 and after visiting their web page, to find if it was one of theirs, ran it, which has detected and partially removed 'Win32/Rotbrow'. Shouldn't the Antivirus have been pointing these out and removed them? Can you tell me what they are and what I can do to stop them and fix the problem? I ran S. A . Antivirus after each pop-up but nothing was detected so whats going on? Would it pick these up or is it something I have to manually sort out?
How Would Webroot Clean Ransomware?
This is just a hypothetical question that an IT guy posed to me at work when I told him I was using Webroot to protect my home PC. Can someone with a good knowledge of Webroot explain how it would clean up a piece of nasty ransomware that it didn't catch and let slip by? For argument's sake, assume that the ransomware has locked up the PC and the Webroot GUI cannot be accessed. My thinking is that Webroot will eventually identify the ransomware on its own (working in the background via the cloud while the PC is locked up) and clean up the infection automatically. Is that correct?
24/7 Live Tech Support
How about 24/7 live tech support? This company is going to grow like wildfire, so we should put 24/7 live tech support in place. So far, I have found live tech support to be very helpful, although is seems like things are happening so quickly with this product that it's a learning process for everyone, including the tech reps.
wsa blocks my DLL by folder
I've developped an ActiveX which is embeded in a web page. The ActiveX used to require admin previledge to be installed in c:program filesmyactivex folder. To make the activex more friendly, I've made some changes so that it can now be installed without admin previledge in LocalAppDataFolder. But for unknown reason, wsa blocked some DLLs that were installed with my activex. WSA simply denied DLL access without prompting any message. The DLL is FreeimageNet.dll and Freeimage.dll , an open source library project. These two files have been manually scanned and no threat is detected. And they work fine when they were installed in c:program filesmyactivex folder. They also work if I shutdown wsa. I've tried to add these two files in allowed files but another strange thing happened. When I added C:UsersmyuserAppDataLocalmyactivexFreeimageNet.dll, the file in the block/allow files list became c:myproj eleaseFreeImageNet.dll, the same file but in diffrent
