Yesterday, I tried to install some critical Firefox updates. Webroot immediately detected a threat, so I scanned my computer. It said if found 2 trojans, plus detected the update installer as a threat. Today, I was using Chrome and it said my Chrome was outdated and to download a newer version. Webroot said this was a threat (even tho I said it was OK to install) and this time it just detected the Chrome updater as a threat, but didn't detect any viruses. Can someone help as to how I can install updated browsers for Firefox & Chrome? I've never had this happen before.
Hi Guys, I see that the Online Console has been updated and it shows Mac's now so my Sister Inlaw has a Macbook Pro but the latest version posted is 22.214.171.124 and she has v126.96.36.199 maybe someone can supply some info on this update? Nice console update also as it does show Mac from Windows also it's not as detailed as it doesn't show the scans made but it does have the Command functions for Mac! ;) TIA, Daniel
We run an e-commerce site and one of our customers alerted us that their Websroot SecureAnywhere Antivirus is blocking our site. We don't offer any downloads and have been making sure that our site is secure. Can you please review our site to find out if it is a false positive or if there is actually a security error that we need to address to correct this. Thank you, Andrew
If I wanted to target .zip Outlook attachments, which zone are they in under heuristics? In my opinion, they should really have their own zone... I've raised a feature request in the business community, but I've posted this question in home since it applies to everyone. Feature request: https://community.webroot.com/t5/Feature-Requests/Create-heuristic-zone-for-decompression-utilities/idi-p/56295
On the bottom right toolbar of my computer Webroot notified me that I have 2 notifications. I click on it to view the notifications and Webroot begins collecting system status. It has been looking for system stauts for 2 days, and I am sure that it is not working ocrrectly to protect my PC. Does anyone have a suggestion for me?
under identity shield you can specify protected applications. however, i am not sure everything it does and so am unable to make an informed decision as to which applications should be protected. i believe the module has antiphishing, antikeylogger abilities (and anti clip and paste etc), and validates address and makes sure it is secured (https). but i am unsure if it operates like trusteer rapport and blocks out absolutely everything else (so no other programs on my system can access the protected program or secession). initially, i added my email program into the protected sphere, but if like trusteer, it would kick my antivirus out so they couldn't scan the files that are downloaded. or, for example, my browser would lose many of its security addons (like mcafee siteadvisor etc). i presume it doesn't isolate like this?? correct?? is there anything else it does that i missed?
Running a Manual ScanKnowledge Base
Scans run automatically every day, at about the same time you installed SecureAnywhere. For example, if you installed SecureAnywhere at 8 p.m., it always launches a scan around 8 p.m. It will not disrupt your work, nor will it launch while you play games or watch a movie. During scans, SecureAnywhere searches all areas where potential threats can hide, including drives, files, and system memory. It looks for items that match our threat definitions, match descriptions in our community database, or exhibit suspicious behavior. If SecureAnywhere detects a threat, it moves the item to quarantine where it is rendered inoperable. In quarantine, it can no longer harm your system or steal personal data. If SecureAnywhere detects a potential threat, it opens an alert that prompts you to make a decision on whether you want to allow or block the item. If you aren't sure, we recommend that you block the item. For more information, see [url=https://community.webroot.com/t5/Webroot-SecureAnywhere-An
I don't know if this is the reason why but every time I go into Google Chrome's litle task manager it locks up for a long time before being able to do anything with it. Also going to chrome://memory does the same thing as well. I think it happened around the same time I installed Webroot. Does Webroot do anything with Chrome that would possibly do that or is it something else? Please let me know.
I ran across messages from three different people on Twitter tweeting about Webroot SecureAnyWhere blocking Google Hangouts in Chrome from working correctly.@WebrootSupport says a solution is being worked on right now. In the meantime, you can disable the Web Threat Shield ('PC Security' tab > Shields) and Identity Shield ('Identity and Privacy' tab) as you start the Hangout to make it work. (Based on Webroot support's replies)
One of your customers told me that our website, ~ snip website link removed for administration review TH ~ was blocked by Webroot® SecureAnywhere. It is a minecraft forum. Can you please tell us where the problem comes from, if there is a real security issue we can fix, or check if it might be a false positive ?
This is not a big deal but it has piqued my curiosity. One thing that is always mentioned when listing the advantages of WSA over traditional AV products is that WSA takes up less than 1 MB of space on the hard drive, if you check in program files that seems to be the case, but is WSA creating other files and folders in other areas of the disk that are a bit larger than that? The reason I ask is that the uninstaller program I use is reporting that the actual size of WSA is well over 17 MB, while that is still incredibly small compared to traditional AV programs, it is substantially larger than 1 MB. So does WSA only install files in program files, or does it also install larger files and folders in other areas on the disk? Note: The date in the screenshot is the installation date. Does the community have any kind of feedback on the results from The Safe Mac's Antivirus testing and why Webroot SecureAnywhere scored so low? I know WebRoot uses a radically different technique for detecting malware, but i'm suprised that it only detected 21%/29% of the threats in the test. Win 7 Pro 64 Webroot 188.8.131.52 Having issues with updates on this laptop since January. We are making progress as this time "Scan with Webroot" still works! Checking for updates returns a response stating "You are currently using the newest SecureAnywhere software. With this version, SecureAnywhere automatically updates the software and no longer downloads threat definitions. Threat protection is now performed "in the cloud" and is always up-to-date." Despite the response it appears 184.108.40.206 is not the most current version as two other systems are reportedly running WSA version 220.127.116.11. A case was opened on June 28 with the initial response of uninstall/reinstall. Since this system has not successfully been updated without manual intervention in 2013 I am trying to avoid manual installs and hoping for a more permanent solution. With Webroot's help, the last update was "successfully" reinstalled. However, there are two versions of w
I entered a new Keycode for a one year subscription for SecureAnywhere under My Account on my computer. The subscripton had expired two days earlier. Upon entering the new code, the program runs perfectly only it says under My Status that my subscription is Not Activated. It also will not count down the days on my subscription, it says 365 days left and is stuck on it. I tried to get support to fix this issue, but they told me the software came from Best Buy and Best Buy has to activate the code. I had purchased the software through a Seller on Ebay for SecureAnywhere with CD in a factory sealed box. After spending an hour on the phone with one department after another from Best Buy, I was told they can't do anything on their end to activate the keycode since it was not scanned at checkout. The keycode is automatically activated only when scanned at checkout. Bottom line, the software runs fine, there seems to be no expiration and yet Webroot does not have my copy i
I have used PrevX for almost 5 years with not a single complaint, and my computers have always remained very fast in startup, and in browsing. I have always has PrevX on my 2 primary pcs until the recent upgrade to webroot, and since I just purchased two more pcs I've added webroot to them as well. I now have Webroot on a total of 3 desktop pcs, and 1 laptop. I'm running Windows 7 HP on 2 desktops, Windows XP Pro SP3 on the last desktop, and the laptop is new with W7 Starter installed. I'm using the same keycode on 2 desktops, and a different keycode on the remaining pc and laptop. Since upgrading from PrevX to Webroot on my primary pcs I've noticed a that all 4 computers are VERY slow to startup. Once the desktop loads all icons, these icons remain inactive for around 1-2 minutes on each pc. At first I thought it was just on my own computer, until today when I accessed all 4 pcs, and am now seeing that all 4 of them have this same problem. It's as if clickign the ic
I've just downloaded Freemake Video Converter which has also installed a Tune-up Utilities 2013 prog. It has around 30 different 'power tools' to it including a Browser Cleaner, Disc Cleaner, Programme De-activator, 1-Click Maintenance etc. Would it be OK to use these or will they interact badly with the SA Antivirus (I've had loads of probs since it was installed and now I'm even more nervous!)
