Another false positive for W32.Malware.Gen - This time in xvid.dll, xvidcore.dll
Using 2013 version of the software. Today it flagged the xvid.dll and xvidcore.dll files in my Windows 7 system32 directory. The last modified dates for the dll's were from 2004, and this isn't the first time I've gotten false positives with SecvureAnywhere 2013, and at least one of the other incidents was also for the W32.Malware.Gen. In the past they were pretty much associated with downloaded executables, and I didn't mind deleting them, since they were usuyally older archived versions; but I wasn't about to delete any dll's without rechecking. A Webroot rescan picked up the same files. I then scanned the directory with Emsisoft's malware detector, and it found nothing. I'm becoming concerned about these false positives. Are others finding this happening repeatedly? ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- c:windowssystem32xvid.dll [MD5: 4581AC2AAD750548AC6B4AA6A06D1926] [Flags

How to Create an Online Webroot AccountKnowledge Base
This article has been reviewed and updated by APruneau on February 24th, 2020. Question How do I create an account? Answer By creating a Webroot account, you can view the security status of your PC from any device with an Internet connection. This status information is available at the SecureAnywhere Website (https://identity.webrootanywhere.com/v1/Account/login). From here, you can view security across multiple devices from a single location, making it easier to determine if all your devices are protected or if any need attention. To create an account: Open your browser and go to https://identity.webrootanywhere.com/v1/Account/login. Click Create Account. Complete the registration information and click Register Now. At the bottom of the page, select your region and click Register Now. SecureAnywhere sends a confirmation message to the email address you specified. Click the link in the email. Enter the requested characters of your security code, then click Conf
Webroot + Chrome (once again)
I have sent a message to the Webroot support last year, complaining why Webroot is always stealing keyboard shortcuts like ALT+D in Chrome and other Chromium forks. Webroot support told me it's because of the Identity shield. Does not make any sense to me because what is so special with the standard keyboard shortcut ALT+D... but OK. Support told me to move chrome.exe from 'protect' to the 'allow' in the Protected Applications menu. Worked well until the next update of Chrome. Then the Webroot software did reset the setting again. Because I do have Chrome Canary build as well as Chromium installed (several updates a day) it just freaked me out to change the setting from protected to allow over and over again. Currently I have completely deactivated the Identity shield but ... to be honest that is not a solution. It's like someone would recommend me to uninstall Webroot. So when can I expect an update? So difficult to create a role and update the cloud database?

Webroot SecureAnywhere AV interrupts/cancels downloads Help?
Many times I am downloading some files in firefox and then ill click on a random site while browsing and then a pop up will come up from webroot (sometimes it pops up and goes away real fast) and other times it allows me to chose close or allow for the website... I guess it thinks the site is a risky site or something... but all my downloads stop.. this is really annoying and if I cannot protect my browsing somewhat and it not interrupt my downloads in firefox when it "sees" a potential risky site or something then I am going to have to go to another AV... in other suites Ive used before I did not have the same problem (norton, kaspersky, avira, avast) this has happened multiple times and has cost me lots of time having to redownload stuff that was not complete... thanks for the help if anyone can tell me what settings I may need to adjust and or stay secure but not screw up my current downloads...
SecureAnywhere Replaces Spy Sweeper
I have use Spy Sweeper for a long time and when the auto renewal happened in Feb, 2013, I was told that Spy Sweeper was discountinued and replaced by SecureAnywhere. I uninstalled Spy Sweeper and intalled SecureAnywhere. With Spy Sweeper, I did not have it run in live mode, but would manually start it when I wanted to do scans. I do not want SecureAnywhere to run in "Live" mode - I have other software for that. I want to just run it to scan when I want to. How do I shut it down and keep it down until I manually start it. Everytime I shut it down, it automatically restart itself. With Spy Sweeper, I could shut it down from live mode and just start it when I wanted to do manual scans, and then shut it back down - it did not restart itself automatically. Can this be done with this software? Thanks for any insights. gumboman

Crash with Mozy Stash
I recently posted a conflict between Webroot Internet Security and Absolute LoJack. I've noticed a new conflict. Webroot Internet Security causes Mozy Stash to crash as well. Both LoJack and Mozy Stash involve behind the scenes communication with remote servers. Has anyone else experienced this?
How to report a Malicious URL without having WSA installed
How do I report a malicious URL without having WSA installed? I had to uninstall WSA due to incompatibility. I have a phishing URL using Social Engineering. It's a fake FB login Screen that was sent to me. Someone on my friend list sent me an email saying I wouldn't believe who got video taped going to the bathroom lol Once you click on this link it takes you to the fake FB login page. Some of my friends have already fallen victim to this. It looks really convincing to the untrained user. It looks just like the real FB login screen.
Boots to black screen
Hello All! I am a technician that works on computers daily, and I have come across some issues I think are directly related to Webroot. I have noticed computers not booting to OS, and hanging at a black screen before loading user profiles. This has happened on several systems I have worked on, and the only fix that will allow them to boot is REMOVING Webroot! The only reason I believe it to be cause of Webroot, is because myself and my fellow technicians have tried every possible way to get them to boot (no hardware issues found), and 10 out of 10 computers, with removal of Webroot, then booted to OS with no issues. I like webroot, recommending it always as top antivirus and have been putting it on 8 out of 10 computers I have fixed, but I do not want to keep installing it when it causes such problems. Any insight/help would be greatly appreciated. ---------- (Title has been edited to better reflect the issue - Jim)
Outpost Pro Firewall
Is Webroot AV compatible with Outpost Pro personal firewall? I have recently extended my subscription from one seat to three seats, but I am not yet using the third seat because that computer utilizes the Outpost Pro firewall. If it is okay to use, I will load Webroot on that computer as well.
version 188.8.131.52 stalling
since this new release installed itself, when Webroot scans, it stalls at 81% and hangs there for several minutes. this is in the process of accessing the webroot cloud for doing a scan. it just sits there, and finally after seven minutes or so, it finishes. this scan usually takes less than three minutes, but now it takes over ten minutes. nothing has changed on my end, except the new webroot version. thanks. note: if I run a second scan, it runs with no problem, I have a scan log, but don't see anyway to attache it.
Notepad & KeePass
Win7 Pro 64 bit Webroot 184.108.40.206 Question 1: BEFORE, Notepad it is flagged "Protect" it would be nice to understand why the default is "Deny". Is it really more dangerous compared to Word, Excel, Outlook, and Access? This comment was added after posting: I just saw the post about clipboard issues when Internet Explorer is running. I did not decte issues with clipbard as text could be copied to and from the four applications mentioned and Internet Explorer. Only Notepad was impacted and it was flagged Deny. Reason this question is being asked: One or two days after reinstalling Webroot the ability to paste into Notepad was lost; other tested applications were fine. (Even text copied from Notepad can't be pasted in Notepad.) Question 2: Since I don't want my passwords stolen KeePass was added and flagged "Protect". KeePass won't start. Remove the entry. KeePass works. Nothing in the explanation su
External Keyboard Problems
I recently replaced my laptop and installed Webroot SecureAnywhere Antivirus 2013 (along with installing all my other software). It seems to interfere with my external keyboard (but doesn't interefere with the Bluetooth mouse). I can type in my password for the computer at start-up and then one more keystroke. Thought it might be the Bluetooth keyboard, so I gave up and bought a USB keyboard. Same problem. After a lot of frustration trying to identify the source of the problem, I finally did a factory reset and reinstalled every piece of software individually with a restart and test of the keyboard at each step. Webroot blocks the keyboard. Is there a setting or something I can do on Webroot to allow an external keyboard (running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit on Dell Inspiron i15R-1633sLV 15.6-Inch Laptop). Thanks!

External Keyboard not working
I recently purchased a laptop and installed Webroot SecureAnywhere Antivirus 2013 (along with installing all my other software). It seems to interfere with my external keyboard (but doesn't interefere with the wireless mouse). I can type in my password for the computer at start-up and once the computer starts the Webroot blocks the signal. Before installing the Webroot software the laptop came with a Mcafee antivirus and I did not have any issues. I am frustrated with Webroot and if someone can help resolve the issue, I appreciate their help. Otherwise I will uninstall the software and get a new anti virus software. Webroot blocks the keyboard. Is there a setting or something I can do on Webroot to allow an external keyboard (running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit on Dell Inspiron i15R-1632sLV 15.6-Inch Laptop).
