(1) I have an ISP that limits my monthly usage to 7.5 GB. What does WSA AV add to my usage per month, for my 3 PCs? (2) Excluding cloud-based file backup, what can I expect the upgrade versions to require per month? (3) If I upgrade to Complete, will adding my smartphone be like adding a 4th computer? (4) Am I correct in assuming that badwidth required to mainatin my phone apply against the phone's data plan? Thanks, TC
Like a fool I allowed a family member to use my PC against my better judgment this afternoon and now I'm regretting it as all hell has literally broken loose. Long story short I restarted my PC about an hour ago and when it loaded back into Windows (7 ultimate edition x64) it was instantly clear there was a problem. I won't go through all the details but I noticed Webroot wasn't running anymore and Windows was prompting me to turn it back on. When I went to do so instead of Webroot running I was presented with the Webroot installation window instead. I entered my key (Webroot Secure Anywhere) and I got the following message - "Webroot could not be installed. This could potentially be caused by malware on the computer. Would you like to try installing with a randomized filename?" The latter option doesn't work and as a result I cannot get Webroot running again. I've scanned the PC using Emsisoft Anti-malware which found three suspicious items and deleted them. All subs
I just spent 234.00 to have a computer specialist remove hundreds of malware and 7 critical viruses from my laptop, requiring repair of my OS. I paid 128.78 for 3 licenses to Webroot Sept. 5th and it has been running on a new laptop bought in March 2012 and has been updated, running and telling me the system is free of problems since then. My daughter's desktop WEbRoot is doing the same thing-- stating the system is clear while a free utility like Spybot run right afterwards finds malware and viruses. The computer specialist assured me WebRoot was running perfectly and is updated-- then she told me to get another better virus program. Webroot used to be good-- what happened?
Here at Webroot, we see so many customers (and potential customers) ask “what’s the difference between Webroot SecureAnywhere and the older Webroot products?” The short answer is a winning combination of compatibility, unmatched speed, efficiency, and protection. The longer answer is this: Internet Security Trendsetting Unlike sports, there is no such thing as the “seasoned veteran” when it comes technology, and terms like “classic” and “old school” typically mean your product is outdated and slow. In fact, the only way veterans survive in the tech world is if they have a quality product that is constantly being updated (if not reinvented) with the newest technology. One of the few exceptions has been the internet security industry as a whole. For far too long, internet security companies have been playing it safe, reluctantly avoiding to stay current with the ever-evolving technological trends. Needless to say, every internet security software company (including Webroot
My brother got his computer serviced @ Best Buy (BB) to get rid of the Smart HDD malware and he had them install Webroot SA Antivirus because of it's low resource usage. I noticed that the key code had some Best Buy references (I think) , and the paper insert in the CD case has a subsection for Best Buy within the main Webroot website for product downloads. Questions: 1. My brother has a 3 user, 3 year licensing Webroot SA AV version from BB, so does he need to use the CD version / download from the BB subsection of your website, or can he just use the normal "wsainstall.exe" to install on his other machines? 2. Can he create a My Webroot account online for himself and register his keycode? 3. How does he handle renewals - through Best Buy or Webroot? 4. I just recently became a Webroot fan and have installed WebRoot SA Complete. Since I am the family tech support guy, can I put his keycode as a separate console on my own My Webroot account at the same time that he
I downloaded networkminer.exe from SourceForge and webroot appears to think it's a Threat of some kind. As far as I know it's just a tool for analyzing web traffic. It thinks the threat is Win32.LocalInfect.2, the googling of which only returns 6 results. I also downloaded a game some kids at the hackerspace wrote in http://scratch.mit.edu/ and it also detected it as a threat, something else Win32....

WRConsumerService WRConsumerService stoped working and was closed - error message that brought me to a Questions forum that suggested that WRConsumerServive was packaged with webroot and other antivirus applictaions ???? The forum suggested that WRConsumerService also has a history of malware programs imitating it to avoid detection ? therfore what is this Process ? and is it connected to webroot ? - and if so, is it not prudent to ensure the process is a genuine part of webroots original instal ? ie can we have a 'verify install' or 'confirm install' option addeded to webroot scanning ? - lets not have a webroot proces exploited in this mannor thats being reported as such. Here is the issue. I do not need the Web Threat Shield but I also do not want to disable it becuase that means I continuesly receive a message that I do not have full protection. If I were to leave Web Threat Shield toggle active but untick it's 4 functions, would that basically be the same as disabling it fully? If not, can you please tell me which parts of Web Threat Shield are active even after disabling it's 4 features in the change settings. Thank you :)
:8 Hi I have a Toshiba Lap Top SatelliteL755, it has a LAP TOP CHECK UP program that insits on the Norton security center that tells me that I have no security on my system when I have full blown webroot protecting my system perfectly. I just wondered had any one else noticed that Norton uses all kinds of scaretactics to scare people into useing thier problem ridden products as well. I used Norton on one Lap top as it was a part ofthe Package Deal( whatever) and all it seemd to do was try to initiate fear. That I only had 363 days left and needed to resubscribe before it istoo late. I happily removed Norton and put the Webroot right in after that .I bought webroot because I know it is good and theree are not any games being played. I just see Norton as a scaming coniveing bunch that greed is thier cause. That seems teroristic to me and very decietfull. Is there a way to shut them down or at least hold them responsible as actually being malware? I also think that it reflects porrly on t
I work in IT and we've been using Webroot for our systems for quite some time. Over the past few months I've seen this incident arrise, but have found no traces online for a solution. What seems to be happening is webroot SecureAnywhere stops running, and cannot be uninstalled. Tried running in safemode, and creating other user profiles to trioubleshoot without any success. The systems I've seen running them appear to have no virus related problems (they had been wiped to factory within 6-12 months.) I've ran spyware doctor, and malware bytes to find no other infections. Windows updates are running normally as well. Secondly, I've used forced uninstalling program (Revo) to remove the program. The webroot SecureAnywhere installer does not launch (after uninstalling SecureAnywhere), but when I try and use the old Webroot AV+Spyware software it launches! Hooray, but I get a message saying that a newer version of Webroot is already installed. I've spent some time removing all registry f
Hardware failure on my old computer forced me to buy a new one. Is my webroot secure anywhere antivirus able to be activated on my new computer without buying a multicomputer licsence as it will only be on one. Thanks for any info. I have access to webroot my console. For validation purposes if needed.
I have installed Webroot on my ASUS Prime but am unable to open the application. Though my tablet is 'wifi' connected I receive a message indicating I am not connected to the Internet. Having successfully installed Webroot on my smartphone I am wondering if I must have a 3G connection to open Webroot on the tablet. Would someone be able to explain what is amiss? Thank you.
Hi! I hope you can help me. After scanning the internet I cannot seem to find any help for my problem. Here goes. I installed Webroot many months ago and had a six month antivirus protection after buying my computer from Best Buy, About a month ago it stopped working. I could no longer open the program. I thought it had expired, so I renewed it, tried installing again and it wouldn't work. I can't remember exactly what it was doing, but if I remember correctly, it wouldn't accept my new key code. After being frusrated and trying many things, I returned my renewal and uninstalled what I could from my computer of Webroot. However, when I restarted my computer recently, a box came up and asked if I wanted Webroot to make changes to my hard drive. Obviously something is still there. I went looking and found WRSA in my programs files. It does not show up in programs where I can uninstall it. If I try to dele
I uninstalled SecureAnywhere AntiVirus, rebooted, re-installed SecureAnywhere AntiVirus (wsainstall.exe) , and re-booted again. During the install there was an option to put it SecureAnywhere in my Start Menu. The only thing in my Start Menu related to SecureAnywhere is an option to un-install it. In C:Program FilesWebroot the only file there is WRSA.exe (641 KB). Clicking on it does NOT open the application. How do I get it to open so I can check the various settings? I know when I had the program on my PC earlier today, I could open it. But if I could open it before, why can't I open it now? Keycode did not change. By the way, I uninstalled SecureAnywhere because Carbonite suddenly stoped backing up files right after I originally installed SecureAnywhere. Carbonite did not start to work after I removed SecureAnywhere either, so maybe Carbonite has other problems.
After a total 3 visits to best buy, this virus still hasn't been removed... It looks like they used atleast 4 different programs to remove it, but it still remains on my laptop. Heres what is says on the scan, copied any pasted: c:$mbr.1 Win32.Autolock.1 After it "removes" the virus and restarts the virus is still there after another scan... The malware also shows up on Windows task manager crss.exe winlogon.exe atieclxx.exe The processes don't have a user name and no description When I try to end them it says Access Denied even though I'm on the Administrative profile, the only profile on my laptop. Webroot finds the threat, but doesn't remove it, help
I cannot find anywhere on the product website where I can give feedback to a real person so I am posting a concern here. I like Webroot have used it for several years and recommended it to others. my product is updated and since upgrading to SecureAnywhere it has not found one problem on my PC. scanning with the free Spybot Search and Destroy right afterwards I have found numerous malware and spy items that Spybot identified and removed. I spent hours trying to get iTunes reloaded after some issues with its file listings. When I went to Best Buy's GeekSquad for help, they advised my hp laptop was infected with a virus (not identified) that had scrambled my operating system (Windows 7 (x86). My data was backed up and Win7 reinstalled. When my data was returned to the laptop almost every file showed a duplicate (.old). I have spent many hours removing this excess 'chaff'. My only protection was Webroot, installed by Best Buy when I bought the laptop last May. They still love Webroot, but I'm so convinced anymore. What do you recommend as backup? Webroot is running all the time............... Suggestions are welcome. :)
Hello All! I am a technician that works on computers daily, and I have come across some issues I think are directly related to Webroot. I have noticed computers not booting to OS, and hanging at a black screen before loading user profiles. This has happened on several systems I have worked on, and the only fix that will allow them to boot is REMOVING Webroot! The only reason I believe it to be cause of Webroot, is because myself and my fellow technicians have tried every possible way to get them to boot (no hardware issues found), and 10 out of 10 computers, with removal of Webroot, then booted to OS with no issues. I like webroot, recommending it always as top antivirus and have been putting it on 8 out of 10 computers I have fixed, but I do not want to keep installing it when it causes such problems. Any insight/help would be greatly appreciated. ---------- (Title has been edited to better reflect the issue - Jim)
