For almost a month I have been struggling to find out why I could not use my OnGuard VPN connection with UCLA. I had long calls with IT personnel, who could not fix the problem. At the same time, Thunderbird, which I used to access my Bruin Online email, stopped working. Finally, I tried deactivating Webroot. Lo and behold, both OnGuard VPN and Thunderbird worked again! To put it mildly, I am not very happy with Webroot right now. Any explanation?
Hello,I am writing this from information given to me from my grandfather so I apologize if this is a bit vague, I will do the best I can. Over the weekend my grandfather got a call claiming they were from microsoft and that his computer had a virus and that he needed to follow their instructions to remove it. This involved uninstalling his current anti-virus and installing a suite of programs including Webroot. They then asked for a large sum of money for the virus removal and activation of the new anti-virus software for a 5 year warranty period. All of this was done over the phone and he did not write any of it down so we have no clue what the key was that they gave him or any other relevant information. The only info they gave him for future contact was the geek squad number, and when he tried to call the number they have no record of the transaction (of course). Is there any thing we can do to potentially find the key that they gave him and the details of his subscription; if there

Google Search items that deal with deletion of unneeded users are related to older versions of Webroot. It appears that customer support need to remove an errant or out of date user from Webroot Secure Anywhere Home. I did not realize that I could change the email address for an existing user, so I created a second one with intention to delete the first. But there seems to be no way to do this from within the pc browser area. I decided not to change the email login on the original but am now left with the latter address which seems to be irremovable.PB

Hello All,I’ve used Webroot Secureanywhere for about 4 years now. Recently, after Windows 10 updated to KB4023057 and KB5005611, my Webroot shortcut disappears off the screen, and the whole program disappears off my list of programs. I run the installer, which is still in my downloads, and it won’t run/open. When this first happened a few days ago, after researching for a solution for hours, I ran all my antivirus programs such as Malwarebytes and Superantispyware, and they found nothing. So, I did a system restore in safe mode to get rid of the two new updates, and my Weboot came back and worked no problem….anyone have any ideas? Oh, its a HP laptop, Intel i7-7700 2.8ghz, 12gb RAM, 128gb SD drive, and a 1 TB standard, high speed hard drive, Intel HD graphics, and a GEOForce GTX video card….4 years old….
I recently purchased a new Dell laptop (9/20/21), running Windows 10. (Soon to run Windows 11 when that is available.) Since installing Webroot (the first thing I did) upon booting up this PC, I have had issues with Google Chrome. Google Chrome won’t launch - unless it is launched from the Start menu immediately after boot-up is complete. When I am successful in getting Chrome to launch, if it is closed, it will not re-launch unless the PC is restarted and Chrome is the first app launched. I have followed the instructions on the web re: Chrome won’t launch: uninstalling/re-installing Google Chrome several times, followed by system restarts. These only result in a temporary fix, as once Chrome is closed, it will not re-launch. As a general rule, I try not to remain connected to the Internet longer than necessary. I followed the instructions in the Webroot support area, and when Chrome is running it shows that it is an active connection. When Chrome is closed, it does not show
When I run the Webroot scan, how do I find what the results tell? How do I find the devices that are not functioning in order to fix them? This is one thing that I find frustrating about Webroot. It scans, but never gives enough information to fix the issues found.
Good Day - I have been extremely frustrated with a Homeseer home automation program that I have run for several years without problem. About a week ago Webroot started to flag a Plug-in program (HPSI_UPBSpud.exe) as being infected with a WIN32.Localinfect.2 virus. Webroot is the only detection program in Virus Total that is flagging this file as malicious. I didn’t realize at first that Webroot had quarantined the file and spent a long time trying to figure out what had happened. Finally after “allowing” the file in Webroot I am back to my baseline with my home automation. I simply wanted to report it here as it looks like a false positive. Thanks for reading.

I just renewed my subscription a few hours ago (I was without it for a few months) because my safari would use yahoo search engine instead of google. i looked it up to see why it was doing that and it said that it was a malware virus. so I renewed it and when I went to scan for any viruses it said that it was clean but safari is still using yahoo search engine instead of google.
Starting sometime late last year, every time I do a scan with WR first a popup says “Do you want (this program) to make CHANGES on your computer?” I click no; I only want it to scan for malware. Why am I asked this? For years it would just scan and report. Second, after each scan (which incidentally is far SHORTER that a year ago, showing less than half as many files scanned as before… and taking a fraction of the time) it says “No threats found” - then at the end of the list of findings in the report the entire frame goes red and one item (also in red...) states “An antivirus program is installed but not protecting your computer”. I click on the message with no response. But when I click on the (?) icon it directs me to a startup page whereby I can PURCHASE Webroot! WHAT is going ON with this system? Most or all these changes have appeared in less than the past year despite my memembership self-renewing just months ago. ...And all this AFTER being told MS was no longer supporting m
So I love webroot and have it on all my windows machines but I am running into a problem where it prevents a program called Local by Flywheel witch is used to create wordpress sites locally on my machine.. I have found that when wordpress is running even if I tell it to ignore that program the program it’s self has a whole bunch of issues like local not running or not being able to open existing sites or create new ones. But then when I uninstall webroot it works just fine. I have tried contacting the tech support for that program and they basically told me it was an issue on webroot’s end. I have also posted on that program’s forum to see if they have any suggestions. But if anyone knows a solution where I could still have webroot running but have the program work I would appreciate it. Thank you in advance.
Hi,Some times my webroot extension show “ Ratings are temporarily unavailable. Wait for service to be restored or find more information here . “ but when i close tab and open url at new tab, it is correct .why? Thanks ,Amir
Microsoft recently disclosed information on CVE-2021-40444, in their post they note that “Microsoft Defender Antivirus and Microsoft Defender for Endpoint both provide detection and protections for the known vulnerability.” However, there hasn’t been any information published by Webroot yet. You would think Microsoft would share some information with their partners BEFORE notifying the public… Does anyone know if Webroot is protecting against this threat? Regards,
My Corsair headset and mouse started acting weird, then I noticed that the iCUE had not started automatically. I tried to start it manually but then the same thing happened similar to the Chrome problem (https://answers.webroot.com/Webroot/ukp.aspx?pid=17&vw=1&app=vw&solutionid=1916). I deactivated webroot and then I could open iCUE. Now I have allowed iCUE in the webroot settings and it seems to work.
It looks like the latest update has triggered the system’s “...do you allow Webroot to make changes to your hard drive?” (as far as I can tell, the last time this happened 4 years ago, I didn’t want to resurrect that thread) Despite clicking ‘Yes’, it’s popping up every time I start up my PC. What’s causing it, and how do I stop it?
