Your security code is a code you crea
When I click on the "w" icon in the taskbar and open the interface it states "protection disabled (subscr1ption expired)" . The icon and interface though is still green. The realtime , webshiled and firewall are all off. My subscription expired just yesterday. apart from possibly two emails (the most recent a month ago) I did not receive any other indications/warnings - has my protection been switched off without a warning so quickly?
I was hit with Cryptowall 3.0 on 6 Feb. Helpful experts on another forum guided me through a lengthy, thorough cleaning procedure, including numerous scans and logs. Today, 30 days later, after booting my laptop, Cryptowall did its thing again -- new files are encrypted, old files are encrypted twice now, and the .png and .txt ransom files appeared. No website access or e-mails; the machine was just sitting there for a couple of hours. It looks to me like this virus hides really well. Now I've just finished running Malwarebytes, Avast, and Webroot -- so far, nothing I've tried can detect it. I've been reading speculation that the virus cleans up after itself and hibernates in a hidden boot partition. My question: can you guys help me truly clean this? Or I should just give up this laptop? Thanks. -Jeff
My only online activities were to check mail and google one topic, yet the Caution.Rootkit virus returned one day after removal. Any ideas on how to permanently remove/prevent it from coming back? I had a MS Tech online chat fix a windows update glitch however during the process I saw a malware warning pop up from Spysweeper recommending don't continue. He X it out and continued and fixed the problem. Right afterwards when the session was over I scanned the computer and I had 6 malwares. On my scan the W32.adware.gen Launcher.exe. It is a legit website. I did an analysis/optimization with Spysweeper and it said I had a possible Launcher leak. I also have 98 IE something. I forgot but can get it by doing the opt again. Am I safe? I scanned a couple more times and Secure Anywhere says computer is clean. Thanks
The topic still comes up from time to time, and while it's not likely to happen, we don't necessarily want to quash the discussion on it if it turns out it's something people still want.https://community.webroot.com/t5/Ideas-Exchange/WSA-all-versions-Exclusion-of-specific-files-folders-from-scans/idi-p/3300 When you think you've finally found AV that has a normal price and works well, google finds quote above... Sorry guys, as a developer I can not have AV that does not let me exclude folders from being scanned. It's so annoying when WSA deletes every single .exe file generated by compilers. And in a world where time matters I can't afford wasting my valuable time for excluding .exe files from being scanned every time I compile a code.

Hi everyone, first post in a long while, which means everything has been running smoothly ;) I recently manually added Microsoft Edge as a Protected Application within Identity Protection. I get the yellow padlock in the Taskbar and can navigate to websites and type into text fields as normal. However, I cannot type alphanumeric characters into the Start Page or the Address Bar, but I can type basic punctuation keystrokes; .?/=" etc. Is this because Edge compatability is still only half-baked? Is anyone else experiencing this, or is it just me?
Did anyone else get this message that Firefox has disabled the Webroot filtering extension because it is unverfieid? Has anyone else experienced this. Just happened today but I've had Webroot for a couple of months.
I read in the forums that "Web Shield" has been replaced by "Webroot Filtering Extension" but my installation refers to "Web Shield" and "SecureAnywhere Shields" when talking about what I would like help with; again. Two questions were asked of support. If a link can be provided that answers my question please provide it rather than wasting your time. However, generic responses will not help. Hello, I had year subscription when I bought my new laptop. Now my subscription is expiring tomorrow. I got a message telling me. In this message, it says I should renew through Geek Squad and directs me to a site to renew asking for my cedit card. It has my name on the page, It seems legit. But the web page is not secure, or so it seems. Site info indicates it is not fully secure page. How can a securiy product ask me to input my financial info on a web page that isnt secure? I do not remember if I got my original security through Geek Squad. Is this pop up message legitimate? What will happen if my security isnt renewed tomorrow? How can I make sure I am doing this correctly. Can anyone please give me some direction .... I greatly appreciate any help. I'm not tech savvy at all. Thank you in advance.
I typed this out once and got an error, so I'm going to keep it brief and informative. I was playing Killing Floor 2 through Steam, using TeamSpeak, and streaming to YouTube through OBS. Mid game, I had a threat pop up for the dnsapi.dll. I quarantined and removed it (C:WindowsSystem32 and another amd64_windows-dns-client spot). When I restarted, I had no internet, and couldn't open Teamspeak or anything because of the missing DLL. I went into safe mode, restored in using a cmd prompt and "sfc /scannow". It restored the files, but another virus scan immediately afterwards showed them as threats again. I didn't find anything weird in the registry and no host IPs were found connecting to me in the Drivers/etc/hosts.txt. Is this a false postive? Or do I have a real intrusion?
My friend had purchased Webroot for her PC, the package said it was good for three computers. I installed it on my PC and immeaditly Webroot was about to expire. I had Webroot on an older system that had expired. I might have used the same login information for this new Webroot install, maybe that's the issue. Also I can't see where to clean up Temp internet files, looks like Webroot changed it's interface since I last used it. Thanks for help, Windows 7.
Yesterday I installed WSA and am very pleased with it so far. About an hour ago I opened Shadow Defender as I wanted to try out a new version of WinRar and I always try new software in SD first. When I exited SD and had a look at WSA, I was surprised to see that changes that I had made to some of my setting earlier in the day had been rolled back to how it was last night. I also noticed that on the 'front page' the scan that was performed at 9.30 this morming is not there as it says last scan 20 hours ago and the number of scans has been reduced from seven to six. The seventh scan does show up in the log file though and I have saved a copy of it.

I was thinking about trying WSA on my Laptop again. The last time my Laptop would not boot anymore. It would freeze right after Windows login. Since my Laptop may not boot anymore I was wondering if WSA Logs utility will run in safe mode. Safe mode disables Windows installer so I was thinking it probably wouldn't, but maybe some portable application would run. So, will WSA Utility run in Safe Mode?
Hi, I started a ticket with Malwarebytes (stupid me forgot to check here first). They have me running Combofix which requires my AV to be shut down. WRA doesn't seem to shut down. How can I go about doing so. And I cannot get Combofix to shut down either (I tried X-ing out but it pushed on ahead stating it will go ahead and run "at my own risk!" I'd started the ticket there because my computer has been running sluggish but MBAM and WRA don't detect anything. I've worked with tech support on a previous computer and went there first (again, stupid me, forgetting the tech support here). They walked me through several steps and now we're looking at ComboFix. When I open Web Console, I notice that an infection popped up yesterday LPPLUGIN.DLL with W32.InfoStealer.Zeus (probably during this process). Now when I click on support from my computer, I get sent to a blank browser page. Help. If I try to open a support ticket, I'm asked for e-mail address
