Webroot causing problems on startup
Hello, I've had Webroot for about a year now, I had zero issues out of it during that time. However, this past week I've been having some pretty major issues with it. It started about Monday, everything would hang on startup and certain applications would cause the system to lockup entirely (swtor launcher, steam, etc). I completely formatted my system disk and reinstalled Windows 7, thinking there was just an issue with my install. Everything went smoothly until I installed Webroot, then my issues started again. My system would hang on startup for seemingly no reason. What's strange is booting into safe mode works perfectly, even though Webroot still starts in safe mode. I uninstalled Webroot and everything was fine after that, I have had no performance issues afterwards. Does anyone have any idea why this would happen?
Webroot antivirus breaks nslookup
The current version of Webroot SecureAnywhere antivirus (188.8.131.52) breaks Windows 10 nslookup program and some other DNS lookup programs, like the one in Java 11. I tried to shutdown partial shields (Firewall, Phishing etc.), but only complete shutdown of Webroot fixes the problem.
Hi Webrooters..... Okay, so i opened an email that had an odd subject out of curiosity (something I should avoid....curiosity) and discovering it was a goofy and obvious phishing email, I did NOT click on the internal link, deleted the email, emptied my trash (you never can be too sure!) and went on, minding my own business. I have been told that just opening an email will not download anything nasty onto my computer, so didn't think anything about it. About ten minutes later I clicked on a link to a site I have safely clicked on almost daily for a long time and Webroot hit me with "the screen" that the link was unsafe and listed two identical links. I quarantined them and followed the directions to get rid of them. Webroot finished the scan, found another one and got rid of it, then ran another scan until it came up clean. For the next several days, I'd get one or two Webroot screens for "suspicious activity" a day, which is really unusual, so wo
Is there any web protection without the filter extension enabled?
What web protection exists without the web filtering extension active? that extension stops Vivaldi from downloading programs when Chrome tries to issue its warning about programs potentially hurting your computer. This occurs when programs update or are in beta. In other words, if the program is not already on webroot or Google’s whitelist. When I created a ticket, I was told to use Firefox, Chrome or Edge. In other words, either forget your privacy or use Firefox.
3 issues: no padlock, repeated 'Do You Want' popups, WRSVC constantly shutting down/restarting
I am assuming that all 3 of these issues are related to an update from December 16th because they all began at the same time: Regularly (although not every time) at startup, I get the "Do you want to allow Webroot to make changes to your computer" popup; I have been allowing it. At the same time this started, the yellow padlock icon disappeared entirely from all websites; sites that are https normally triggered it but now, nothing, no padlock ever. According to the Webroot panel, my browser (Firefox) is protected and all systems (Realtime Shield, Web Shield, Firewall, Identity Shield, Phishing Shield) are 'green' -- however, the padlock is gone and it is also allowing screen visibility of credit card #s as I type, which it did not do before. I have been avoiding buying anything online because of this issue, just in case. And lastly, in Windows Event Viewer there is a recurring error literally about every minute: "Event ID: 7031 The WRSVC service terminated unexpect
XP Pro: "Webroot SecureAnywhere has encountered a problem and needs to close.........."
My XP Pro computer continuously sends me the message above and the dialogue invites me to send an error report to Microsoft which I have done many times. I suspect some kind of damage to the program itself or to its data file or some unknown system problem. I have run Memtest86+ RAM tests and CHKDSK scans which found no problems with the hardware. I have tried to uninstall web root and am unable to do so. It insists that I login as Administrator, which I do and it does not recognize that Administrator is the user logged in. I had hoped to uninstall and reinstall web root with the hope that this might fix it. I also cannot reinstall from the wsainstall application. When I double-click on it in Explorer, nothing happens. As far as I know, I have the latest version that autoupdates The web root icon does not appear in the system tray so I am unable to right-click on it to turn it off. Does snyone have any suggestions on what to try next? Why am I told th
Webroot is not responding even to force quit on my iMAC (OS X Maverick)
My version updater announced a new version of Webroot (184.108.40.206) was ready to install. I installed it yesterday and proceeded to run Mail, Safari, and my OpenOffice software on my iMAC running Maverick as the OS version. I then set my iMAC system to shutdown. This morning, I noticed the unit did NOT shutdown. It reported it could not close Mail. I did some email stuff and used Safari before trying to shut down my computer for the day. It reported it could not shutdown. I opened "Force Quit" and saw that Webroot was "Not responding". When I tired to Force Quit Webroot, it failed to close (whether using the Apple Menu or the Webroot icon in the dock to Force Quit). Webroot continues to be tagged as "Not Responding". However, it now will NOT let me use Mail, Safari, or Openoffice. I am using another computer to access this site. This is what I want to do: 1) I want to shut down Webroot Secure Anywhere and rega

Missing Web Shield Icon
Hi Peeps! Something is really getting on my nerves now so I've come to you all for a bit of advice. For a while now I've not been seeing the little green Web Shield image next to website addresses when searching via Google. I had come to rely on it and it's a big miss. Everything else seems to be working as it should and the Web Shield is set to the on position so can you tell me what's going on?
cannot open specific web site
Using a Thinkpad 520 laptop running Windows 7 Pro (32 bit) with WebRoot antivirus I cannot open one specific web site: https://remote.viha.ca . Tried with Seamonkey, Internet Explorer and Google Chrome browsers with same result. The Seamonkey browser says it has connected with the web site but times out with a message saying the network connection was interrupted. I can however open the website using an old Thinkpad 30 running XP and AVG antivirus. I would appreciate ideas on how to fix this. -- Arthur

How did WSA know? A modern day mystery.
So I got a fake FedEx email with a link to a virus file. I downloaded it to a test machine and right clicked > Scan. It did not flag it as bad. I then submitted the file via the Webroot SecureAnywhere built-in reporting tool and to VirusTotal. A few minutes later, WSA automatically removed the offending file from the computer. Can someone at Webroot tell me what triggered the WSA cloud to finally change its determination on this file? Still confused about brightcloud reputation vs unsafe website blocking
Baldrick (who has an icon with long hair... :D) gave a great explanation on this topic but this is a bit different. I am confused about why Webroot would block me from opening a webpabe with a BrightCloud reputation of 92 or 96 that is well visited and established. From google search, three URL's are involved which will be called Link # later in this post. 1. The link found: forums.creativecow.net/thread/30/866686 2. I execute it and not a peep. I open up the main GUI and it tells me an infection was found please scan. Whats up with this. Previous version did not do this. Thanks. Just downloaded some malware samples and not one pop up. Opened up the main GUI and same thing. Infections found run a scan. What gives?
