My computer says my subscription has expired and I have never used it??? What's going on???

OK, can you precise the circumstances surrounding this? In otherwords, when did you purchase the subscription, what did you do to use it as you obviously have just tried now given the 'expired' message you have received? Have you just installed WSA for the first time or was it installed on your machine previously?
A little more information would assist greatly with context and so help us to try to help you. :D
