Renewed Webroot and System Optimizer is missing
Recently renewed my Webroot Secure Anywhere and noticed System Optimizer was missing from the utilites menu, however it still runs as scheduled at 10pm Thought this to be odd figured I would ask has System Optimizer been discontinued in the latest update
Hey Baldrick -- just a little heads-up
(assuming you are still around) a while back - several months, actually - you asked me to keep you advised on the status of my Webroot and Malwarebytes installs. I am pleased to announce they are still playing very well together. I am well aware I should not run two security programs at the same time but, on my two machines, these two are working very well as a team. Phil
When I booted my PC it asked for permission for this to run. Program FilesCommon Filesmicrosoft sharedClickToRunUpdates16.0.9126.2116 I wrote down that numbers but not the path and then it took me a long time to find this folder. Still not 100% sure if I should trust it but why is there no place that shows you what you have blocked or allowed. Well if there is such a place it is quite well hidden and it seems like it should have been super easy and something lots (most) people need to do at some point.
Disable the "view your personalized security report" popup
Despite clicking on this popup to view the report, and rebooting my computer, I still get this popup. It has taken me out of full-screen applications, which is extremely frustrating. After trying to find the answer for myself online on how to disable this popup, and after looking through the Webroot settings, I can't see where there's an option to do so. I see that people have been posting about this since all the way back in 2014. Moreover, there's a suggestion thread that specifically asks for the popup to be disabled ... If needed, I'll find another anti-virus that doesn't spam popups at me.
Webroot Console and Mobile Phone Number format
I am running Webroot Secure Anywhere Mobile Complete on a Samsung S6 and TAB S2 with a 4G sim. When I view the mobile security section of my console the phone number format is displayed differently for the two devices and I am wondering if anyone knows why please? I have tried editing the phone number of the TAB S2 in the console but I get an error message to enter a correct phone number. S6 +XX-XXX-XXX-XXX TAB S2 +X (XXX) XXX-XXXX
Why do renewing customers get penalised.
A few reasons why I will no longer be renewing webroot secure anywhere, in 5 days when the subscription ends. The price, in the UK including VAT the price for a years subscription is now £74.99 which translates to $105.84. As if adding insult to injury if you press the subscribe button on the software not only does it not take you to your account to renew your own key (thus losing the extra days you still have) it takes you to a $ site instead of £. Renewing loyal members who have supported this company from the start of Webroot and before should really be getting a discount or at least the software should recognize their country of origin. Pretty sure for 50% of that price I can get reasonable protection elsewhere.
Infected & Webroot can't find the problem
My father didn't have up to date antiviral. Told me his computer was acting funny. I got him a new webroot subscription. During the initial scan it found several threats. It removed all, except it froze on the last threat. I could not get it to do anything. I tried contacting webroot, but have not been able to get help yet. After several hours I restarted the computer to break the freeze. I then reran 3 scans in a row. Everything seemed OK. This AM, the small webroot icon in "hidden icons", lower right, gave a warning saying webroot was infected. I ran a scan that said 'no threats' However, the log says I had only run 2 scans, whereas I had run 4 scans. I'm worried about a deeper infection. Any suggestions?
Webroot Filtering Extension suddenly showing up in Google Chrome after restart.
I recently restarted (Feb. 9th 2018) Google Chrome to let it update; however, I suddenly got the Webroot Filtering Extension when I do not own it. It says that my company put it there, but I am a student on my home computer that I built myself. Extremely confused as to why Webroot Filtering is there now. Wondering how to get rid of it.
Webroot extension issues
I am having issues with the filtering extension. Today the extension randomely dissapeared from my chrome extensions. It took me about 30 minutes to find the chrome link, but when I installed, it claimed that Webroot needed to be installed for it to function. I already had Webroot however. I reinstalled, and it still wouldn't work. I rebooted and even tried a system restore, but it still claimed I didn't have webroot installed. I just want the extension to work properly. High GPU use disables Webroot Process Control
Webroot's Process control is still (After how many years now?) horrid with graphics handling, however high GPU use renders it completely unusable. Under normal situations, I expect that I should be able to select a running process that is being monitored and set it to allowed, especially if it's a patched game. However if the GPU is being pushed to 100%, the Process Control is incapable of displaying both more than one row every three seconds as well as more than five rows total, thus rendering it impossible to whitelist the game via that method. Further testing along this line came to several interesting results as well. Webroot catches pre-compiled cryptominers as malware, doesn't catch custom-compiled ones, but crashes all of them anyway even when they are manually whitelisted. Anyway, how can we best ensure that there is a bug recorded for high GPU use demolishing the Process Control?
Firefox Password Manager toolbar
I have purchased SecureAnywhere complete. It is installed, registered and I have established a Webroot account. I use the latest Firefox version, however I cannot get the Password Manager toolbar to install; although the Web Filtering extension appears and works. Now I know this is a regular query posted to the forum and solutions are given, HOWEVER, I have trolled through all the notices, downloaded and run the fixit tool, bitten off all my fingernails, and thought expletives unmentionable.... all to no avail. The expletives did make me feel better!!! Does anyone have an inkling as to why this is occurring and a solution? Should I uninstall and reinstall the entire programme??? Thanks in anticipation for any reply. P.S. No animals were used or injured during this fraught and distressing process!!!
A question about settings
Are the application settings on a PC per user, or are they global? I have a user with Power User privileges, and an Adminstrator user. I never go online with admin privileges, for safety reasons, but I installed Webroot under the Administrator account. I also set up scanning schedules and optimization schedules in the Admin acount. My question is, will these schedules execute when I am logged on with my Power User account, or do I need separate schedules for that account? I've been seeing errors that tell me that a system optimization is already underway when I have schedules set under both accounts. How does this actually work?
