Hope this is the right place to post this! I've just had my laptop stolen and, although I hold little hope of ever seeing it again, I wondered if there's any way for SecureAnywhere to help me track it down. On the webrootanywhere console I can view the last time any of my computers were scanned. And that gives me a potentially useful IP address. My question (maybe a stupid one) is this: is there any way to somehow communicate with the lost laptop if ever the thief connects to the internet? Would there be any way to remotely tell it to run a scan and thus register the IP address? I realise this might seem like a stupid post but I have to ask.
On one of the machines I installed WRSA complete there is no icon in the tray. I can see the program listed under My Computer, and even send a shortcut to the desktop but it won't open up. The only way I can get it to scan is to click on the C:drive and have it do a scan with Web Root. Can someone help?
The service LastPass had installed version 7?? and had placed a document in my 2007 Excel with all my accounts and user names. I found this by going to Click Start--enter LastPass in the search bar--to my surprise there is this LastPass listed!! I deleted the Excel document and then delelted the shortcut. I have restarted my machine but still receive this error message just below the browser in IE9. I have never requested LastPass, given permission to LastPass to access my info or install any of their products or services. The error message still appears, usually momentarily and then will dissapear when I navigate. However, occassionally the red stripe error message prevents me from scrolling on the page being viewed on the screen. What other measures are there I can do to get rid of it? Reinstalling the Webroot via tech support worked and the error message no longer appears.

I recently installed SecureAnywhere-Complete on an XP system containing IE7. Shortly, I will be upgrading to IE8. Was the option to have those green arrows on google searches removed? I never really liked the green arrows on google searches my myself anyway because when you clicked on them it only took you to Webroot.com instead of giving you handy info about why the site was safe or not. But I was just wondering where the option is for turning the green arrows on or off went? Thanks gate1975mlm
I have a 3PC 3 year licence for WR Security essentials due to expire in 40 days. I have let two of those PCs update to security anywhwere essentials, but I have not registered an online webroot account for them. I have a 4th PC so yesterday downloaded the trial version for Anywhere complete. I'm pretty sure I will end up buying a 5 user 2 year licence of the complete version to cover all my PCs. I want to try the password protection on the trial version of complete so need to register. Should I register the trial code number for Anywhere complete and will it be easy to convert that to the full 5 user 2 year licence. Will it be a problem if I also register the current keycode that I have for the Essential 3 pc 3 year liscence that I currently have? Also, as currently the offer for a 1 year licence gives an extra 3 months, will I get the extra 3 months if I buy a 2 year licence? Thanks
I've recently installed Anywhere Complete 2012 after having to reformat my pc due to a virus that bypassed my previous antivirus software (McAfee). Total reformat (actually, reformatted twiced because it still seemed kind of buggy after the first reformatting), then installed this software. Now, my pc freezes periodically. Its random, not specific to any particular website, but always occurring while I'm browsing the internet. Since I'm new this to this antivirus software, I'm wondering if the freezing is occurring because of scanning or something else concerning Webroot. Has anyone else seen this occur or experienced this problem? I'm hoping its simply a setting I can adjust that will fix the issue. Thanks for any feedback.
Running a limited user account will effectively mitigate against the majority of Windows vulnerabilities. System Analyzer will notify you in the event you are running an administrative account, rather than a limited (or "standard") user account. Why is it a good idea to run a limited user account? Our own Dancho Danchev wrote an article for ZDNet a while back that explains just how important this can be. The article may be getting a bit old, but the principle behind it hasn't changed. Many exploits require administrative rights to function at all. Certain other malware can be contained to affecting only the limited user acc
Hi, I've had webroot SA installed since July. Today I booted up my PC (running Win 7 Ultimate 32bit) and webroot didn't start up at all. I had a look in the start menu and tried to start it from there but a message came up saying it had been moved. I checked the webroot folder in the Program Files folder and that is now completely empty (the last modification was 11 am GMT on the 19th of August i.e. the last time I booted up my PC). Does anyone know what the problem could be? Cheers, J
When I change the day and the time ( so lets say I want to scan every Tuesday at 10 am) I have to confirm that of course, so I do that but then I get the message that my PC is "currently managed by Web Console" and that my settings "may be overwritten on the next database communication"; so I click OK and fill in an encrypted code (bbyy2q, for instance) and then my settings should have been saved! However, that is not so; as soon as I reopen WebSecureAnywhere Complete and take a look at the settings they are back to "Scan every day " and "Scan before 8.00 am when the computer is idle". I want to manage the days and times of the scans myself! So how can I make 'the scheduled scan page' work?
Is anyone else having this problem or know a solution? I can only access Facebook (I use an HTTPS connection to it) if the Facebook Social Network Protection is turned off to none. Obviously, I don't want to roam Facebook with no protection, so this isn't a good thing. Has anyone had this problem and know what a work around could be? Any chance that it's the HTTPS access to FB that's causing a conflict? Thanks!
After installing WSA Complete, my “remembered” website login settings (user and password) are no longer visible or active in IE7 or Chrome. I understood that the Identify Shield controls these, so I unchecked the shield setting, “Prevent programs from accessing protected credentials." This did not help. I also changed the “Protected Applications” setting for IE7 from “Protect” to “Allow.” Still, my login settings are missing and must be entered manually. I am interested in eventually going to Password Management, but want to restore this password convenience temporarily. Can anyone help? What am I missing?
How can I access my backup files from a different computer? When I log into my webroot account under the backup section it says "View, download or share any of your files or photo albums that you are securely storing online from any computer with Internet access." However, underneath it only has a "buy backup" option. When I click on that, my keycodes come up and it shows that I have the Complete version that comes with 10GB of storage. I've synced the files from my laptop. I just can't figure out how to view them from a computer other than my laptop. Please help! Also, when trying to use SecureSync on my Android device - it's asking for a PIN. I don't remember ever setting a PIN so how can I reset it?
It's not very accurate in its analysis of my system, and the "complete report" doesn't tell which "Important updates" my system is missing. That's not much help at all, in fact it's very disappointing and on my system at least appears to be inaccurate. I run Windows Update manually, and I keep the BITS and "Automatic Updates" services disabled since I discovered years ago that Microsoft was applying updates to my system even though I had told it "Notify me but don't automatically download or install them". However, before running WSA, I enabled BITS and the AU service. Even so, Webroot's "complete report" says: Windows Updates ---------------------------------------------------------------- Auto Update State Disabled Update Type Auto-Updates Disabled Last Update Check Never Last Update Download Never Last Update Install Never (90 days ago) Next Scheduled Update Check 2009-06-11 01:29:29 Next Scheduled Install Time Never but in fact I ran W.U. earlier today and rebo
Does Webroot fully support the Opera and Chrome browsers? I have noticed that search results, say from google, do not contain the check or X marks that show up in IE. I have noticed in Chrome, results are encrypted with a https: connections, but Opera is http:. No security icons appear on either browser, though.
