Hi daniel, I just installed today's windows updates and not more then a half hour past after updates and the same message for webroot turned off popped up, so I guess Microsoft is not doing anything about this problem, thoughts ? Scott.
Hi Scott,

Lets see over the next few days to see if the other AV's are reporting the same. Mine is still working fine and I wonder why some are affected and others are not?

Thanks,

Daniel

I have never let WD update ever as I turned it off after a clean reinstall of Windows 10 Enterprise x64 then I install WSA. Sure if your willing to test as I can't reproduce any of this issue on my 2 Laptops.

OK Daniel , I will remove Webroot that will allow windows defender to turn on then I will wait a few hours , I should know if message is stopped within one hour, if it stops then I will reinstall webroot which will automatically turn off windows defender, if this works then it seems that microsoft is pushing windows 10 users to use windows defender as stated in reply from microsoft support tech which you read on microsoft community, I will let you know results, thanks Scott.

Sherry, I did as you asked and did not import old setting , I will update probably Thursday 3/10 after it runs for a while and to see if pop up message comes back, Scott is OK instead of loosenutz, thanks Scott.

Good Morning Scott,

I'm not sure I can answer that as I feel Daniel can better advise you if you should install a different AntiVirus for testing. Normally we just work with Webroot. But lets wait and see..

Thanks for checking that all out for us.

Hi Scott!

Well that's interesting...I quess the best thing to do is wait for Daniel...I just don't understand why some of us get these popup sa Daniel, Baldrick and myself have not gotten these pop ups.

I'm just wondering if you went here to use this registry fix to see if you will still get these popups since you are trying to see what works or not.https://community.webroot.com/t5/Webroot-SecureAnywhere-Antivirus/How-to-Run-WSA-alongside-Windows-Defender-on-Windows-8-Windows-8/ta-p/23058

Just a thought? Otherwise we will have to wait for Daniel. As he knows more then I...

? do you have anything to add?

Hi Sherry

That is an interesting thought, and perhaps one worth exploring as a temporary solution...if it works. But there is an underlying issue at play here for some users. The puzzling thing is, as you say, why this is not affecting all users.

I am wondering if it could be something due to UAC...I have UAC switched off as I use another security app to cover that angle...perhaps a left of field idea but at this stage I would say that any sugegstions should be looked at...like the Registry tweak you have mentioned.

BTW, do you have UAC switched on or off?

Hi Sherry, I really don't want to use Windows defender I don't have much faith in it, I will wait till about 6pm to hear back from daniel if he is busy then I will reinstall Webroot and turn off Windows Defender, just so you know all the computers that I know have this problem are desktop computers and are running on a etherent cable not wireless, thoughts ? thanks Scott.

Hi Baldrick!

I have UAC enabled with one of my sytems running W/10 and I do not get any of those messages. As I don't have third party
security for that PC. This is also a interesting point though!

Hi Scott,

I also use ethernet cables.  I wouldn't know if that would have anything to do with  the wireless setup?

If none of the Webroot Staff reply that I pinged then I will contact them internally to see what's up as some have this issue and some don't.

Hi Scott I just sent an email to some of the Webroot Staff about this issue! If you look at your picture above note that they are grayed out and you can't move the sliders so WD is not running unless you can see it running in Task Manager? So just hold on until I hear back or one of them post here or else where. But be sure WSA is still protecting you even though this is happening.

Thanks,

Daniel 😉

I am now getting the same error as others , just started a couple of days ago and it shows up daily ?

Are you using the BETA keycode Nic gave you? If not the Web Filter Driver is not Active for Non-Beta Testers so I would not worry about that even if you were using the BETA keycode as Event Viewer shows that but it doesn't tell you it has started working normal just after that message! Please look in your Private Messages and Join the Closed Beta Group there is more info in there!!

Hi PoPCorn,

At this point anything is worth a try for those with this issue. I am happy it works for you. As I still haven't had any issues with my W 10 notifications from the Securiy Center!
Userlevel 7
Likewise, PoPCorn, I am glad that it works for you...but like Sherry I have not experienced the problem on any of my Windows systems...so it is still a case that it is an issue for some and not for others, and of those that have the issue the 'fix' works for some but not all.

All very unsatisfactory...but then that is the nature of these sorts of issue...unfortunately. But I am sure that the Support Team will sort it in the end. ;)

Hi PoPCorn

You are welocme..but it's hard to say what the issue is..because there are some with this issue and others not as we have said. But I do have 3 systems running 10 and I have not seen this occuring. Lucky me...I am sure this is frustrating to all who haven't a solution yet. So I hope your PC stays working. ;)

:DThankts for the reply.  I hope it is a final solution for me.  I was thinking it is windows 10 that is turning Webroot off, maby in my case.
As far as I have understood it WSA is not actually affected in terms of its operatiosn and it still protects the client system...it is just the interaction between WSA and the Security Centre reporting that his the issue...but of course, if Windows says that WSA is off or not protecting then users will take note...whether that is correct or not.

I do hope that it gets sorted out sooner rather than later.

Apologies, PoPCorn, if I confused you...WSA is shorthand for Webroot SecureAnyWhere. :$

Thanks, PoPCorn...if it helps...we are all learning, everyday...even when we have been around this Community a while now...;)
