Webroot turns off occasionally for no reason

In the system tray I get a warning that Webroot needs to be turned on.  When I launch Webroot The console tells me that all is running fine and there is no problem.  Another issue is I get occasional emails asking me  to renew my subscription because my key has expired, which I did in Nov 2015.  Thanks

Hello ?

Welcome to the Community,

Is this a recent occurence (about the turning on of Webroot)?  I have not read about this before but it wouldn't hurt to give tech support a call and they will issue a ticket and get back to you. They may also be able to stop the emails. I know that if you purchase a new copy rather than simply renewing the old one, this can happen as it only knows that your old Keycode was not renewed and they are asking if you want to renew it?

The tech support is offered at no charge and they have a decent turnaround time.

Write back if you need additional info.

Hi PatImbriglio

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Can you describe what the notification tray icon is actually dsiplaying? Usually if there is an issue there will be a change in colour (from the normal Green) and you should also see a symbol superimposed on it...that will help us work out what is happening.

Alternatively, if you are happy to do so you could try an uninstall/clean resintall of WSA to see if that will fix the issue. If you would like to then please follow the steps closely!

Make sure you have a copy of your 20 Character Alphanumeric Keycode! Example: SA69-AAAA-A783-DE78-XXXX

  • KEEP the computer online for Uninstall and Reinstall to make sure it works correctly
  • Download a Copy Here (Best Buy Subscription PC users click HERE)
  • Uninstall WSA and Reboot
  • Install with the new installer, enter your Keycode and don't import any settings if asked to as you can set it up as you like once it's done
  • Let it finish it's install scan
  • Reboot once again
Please let us know if that resolves your issue?

Finally, in terms of the renewal subscription emails...when you did renew was that by adding more time to your then current subscription or did you purchase a new subscription and therefore have to enter/activate a new keycode?

Regards, Baldrick
