Mac book Pro cuts support of Webroot with Catalina update

Mac book Pro says it will not support Webroot  after next update, which was Catalina, now Webroot says it will protect anything prior to Catalina but not after. No support at Best Buy right now.

@khumphrey it sounds like he is getting the info from Best Buy and I assume @brcoffey still looks after best buy subscriptions?

Hello @hungpham

Please read this thread about testing files: https://community.webroot.com/webroot-secureanywhere-internet-security-plus-13/webroot-internet-security-plus-fails-in-eicar-test-and-i-am-concerned-about-its-effectiveness-343007

And Webroot has it’s own test file from the thread I posted to:

Due to the way we detect Eicar, we do have an alternative test file that you can use:

http://download.webroot.com/WebrootTestFile.zip - you'll want to extract the file.

Thanks,

I could download the file, extracted the file to WebrootTestFile.exe WITHOUT any warning from Webroot.

No block on my Chrome (with Webroot Threat Shield extension), I could download the file. Even I could open the file. The content is X5O!P%@AP[4\PZX54(P^)7CC)7}$EICAR-STANDARD-ANTIVIRUS-TEST-FILE!$H+H*

Any idea?

Very odd and don’t know what to say as I don’t use any Mac’s. All I can suggest is to Submit a Support Ticket. I wish i could help more…. :zipper_mouth::poop:

@Charis ,

Can I ask where you are getting the info about your macbook pro not supporting Webroot anymore? If you just updated to the most recent MacOS, it’s possible you received a message that mentions a -part- of Webroot no longer working with MacOs. However, this is a very minor change and will not affect usability at all.

If you have a screenshot or any specific wording in an error message, please provide that here.

Thanks!

-Keenan

Makes sense to me.  All I know is my computer with Catalina IS infected and Tech Support can’t get it fixed.  We thought is was fixed and now the error is back.  Do I wait on hold another HOUR?

Funny thing is we were evaluating Webroot for a USG customer.  During our eval the machine we were using for testing was infected by Malware.  We are unable to clean it now.

I just tested here https://www.amtso.org/security-features-check/ and I could download files without any warning from Webroot, either program or Chrome extension. Funny thing is that I have CleanMyMac X running too, and it’s giving out a warning about Eicar test, not Webroot.

So, is Webroot totally useless now?
