Description

In a recent update by Apple, a change was made where extensions that have not been downloaded via the Mac App store will no longer load in the latest version of Safari, version 13.

This results in a lack of safety ratings (search annotations) appearing next to search engine results when searches are completed using Safari, version 13. Version 13 of Safari is the internet browser included with macOS 10.15 Catalina.

Webroot development is working towards adding the Web Threat Shield extension to the Mac App Store as soon as possible, although no release date has been set.

Workaround

In macOS 10.14 Mojave and earlier, functionality of the Web Threat Shield is unaffected in both Chrome and FireFox, so please use either of those browsers with the Web Threat Shield as a workaround until our extension is available in the Mac App Store.

If you are running macOS 10.15 Catalina, there is no workaround. You will have to download and install the Web Threat Shield extension from the Mac App Store once it is available.

Thank you for your patience.
