Filtering Extension add-on

I found the Filtering Extension add-on in Chrome tonight -- I enabled that and the Password Manager.

Now, when I Google for a website, the link appears then in seconds turns to something like this:
nullWebroot URL Classification Category: Uncategorized Confidence: 0 Scand I can't click on the link. For now I'm going to disable the add-on but any info is appreciated!

Hi dsfasdfsfd

Welcome to the Community Forums...:D

This is an open forum to assist the Webroot using community.  Having said that we welcome all feedback & comments...of a CONSTRUCTIVE nature...so if there is a constructive point or points to your comments then please make it/them...otherwise kindly desist from posting until such time as you have something to share that is of use to the Community.

Thank you

Hi All,

I am still getting this issue, I have not raised a trouble ticket as I do not want to clog up the system as I see from this thread that the issue is being worked on.

I would appreciate if this thread can be updated when the issue is resolved.

FYI I use firefox and found the following steps allowed me to disable the extension filtering and see the links correctly:

Ctrl + Shift + A
(click the disable button on Webroot Filtering Extension 1.0.0.21)

Thanks for the welcome.  I will definitely keep my eyes open and enable once the issue is fixed.

I don't understand some of the complaints about Webroot.  It's the first security software I've used that doesn't slow down my computer and/or take 30+ minutes to scan!

Hello all!
I do have an update.
This issue is resolved for PC users. Mac users may experience "Undetermined" search annotations and this is currrently being resolved.
If there are any PC users still experiencing this, please uninstall/reinstall the WSA agent and make sure issue reproduces. If so contact support at once.

Thanks all,

This has been escalated by support I dont have any more information apart from that. If I get an update I`ll post it here.

Hi Kat

Welcome to the Community Forums...:D

You should be able to disable the this feature going to the Managing Add-ons option/feature for your browser (how you access it will depend on which browser you use) and just disabling the 'Webroot Filtering Extension'.

Post back if you do not knwo how to do this.  Also, may I ask why you want to disable what is IMHO a very good feature?

Regards

Thanks again Baldrick, and for the welcome, too.

Are you really a pirate? 🙂

Moderator has been notified.  This is the Webroot Community, and we are more than happy to help with any issues you may be having regarding Webroot software.  This is not the place for discussions or reccomendations of other software however.

dsfasdfsfd, two suggestions.

Please file a Trouble Ticket.  The issue here is not one that we can fix on the Community as it involves a not-before-seen issue that will need to be fixed by Webroot Support.

Or

Please contact MikeR as he suggested for assistance.

I followed an earlier suggestion of disabling the Webroot Filtering Extension 1.0.0.21 located on Firefox's add-on and it did work for me.
Don't forget to re-enable it after it's fixed.

Hi looster

Welcome to the Community Forums...:D

Glad to have you here despite the circumstances for your visit. ;)

As far as we understand it the Development Team are fully aware of the issue and working to resolve it...and once they have the bit between the teeth it is usually just a matter of time.  So keep checking back here for update.

Hello clair_brodie and welcome to the Webroot Community!

You are correct in that disabling the extension/addon is a workaround to the issue remember to watch for an announcement for the problem being fixed.  While the other modules in Webroot will keep you protected, the Web Threat Shield is a very important part of WSA and should be re-enabled as soon as possible.

Hi maicakid

I have not yet welcomed you to the Community Forums...so a BIG Welcome...:D

As David stated in a previous post..."...remember to watch for an announcement for the problem being fixed.  While the other modules in Webroot will keep you protected, the Web Threat Shield is a very important part of WSA and should be re-enabled as soon as possible."

We know that the Support & Development Teams are taking the issue extremely serious and we know that they are working very hard to resolve it.

Hi RonnieJP

Welcome to the Community Forums...:D

The answer is, as far as I know, 'No' as Mike has not posted back to say that resolution has been achieved.  But I am sure that as soon as he has something to share I am sure he will. :D

Hi @...would you have an interim update for for us as to where Support is re. this?  Any such news would be much appreciated.  Many thanks in anticipation.

@ wrote:But anways with the trouble I had I'm a bit nervous to enable a extension on chrome for filtering and now I just got notified that a password manager extension is ready to be enabled. Anyone even know what the password manager is?

Hello Sheils, and welcome.

Here is some info about password management feature, I hope may help.

It would be best to enable the filtering extensions when prompted. Here's some info about shields, and what they do:

Don't worry, it's not at all complicated, and you can even 'set and forget' if you wish. Have a read-up on how it works, and I'm sure you'll find many improvements, compared to Norton.

Any questions, please feel free to ask 😃

There is a workaround that you can use to get to the website of any search result you wish to see: the line BELOW the skewed results does still display the URL, though the link is not active.  You can copy the URL and manually paste it into the browser address bar and click "Enter".

Interesting results on this.  On some searches, all results will show normal, on some results a number will NOT show normal.

Of the ones that do NOT show normal, using the same search on all 3 browsers (IE, Chrome and Firefox), the results with the error match on all three browsers.

On results that show the error, instead of the clickable link and the 'rating' icon provided by the Web Threat Shield, the following text displays:  "nullWebroot URL Classification Category: Uncategorized Confidence: 0 Sc"

Again, the plain text line of the link URL (2nd line of each result) does work for SHORT URL's, but longer URL's are truncated in the plain text and cannot be copy/pasted to manually go to the page.

Hi Kat

Thanks for posting back, and glad to hear that you are sorted, after a fashion, for the moment.  As yo say, hopefully the Support Team will resolve the issue presently.

Hi dsfasdfsfd

I am afraid that I do not quite understand the point that you are trying to make by your comment but as David has advised this is not really the forum for whatever it was.

dsfasdfsfd, perhaps when you turn 15 you will have better manners.

Please note that you can submit a URL to see what its rating is supposed to be using the following link below if need be. Also this issue doesnt effect the Webroot clients ability to remove/block Malware.

I've just updated my account and noticed this for the first time too. Very annoying, so I promptly turned off the extension (Chrome>Tools>Extensions).  I hope you figure out a fix soon so i can turn it back on. Would it help if I filed a Trouble Ticket, or is that unnecessary now the gnomes are at work? ;-)

Subscribing to the RSS feed for this topic now. Good luck!

Hello pduytengsu and welcome to the Webroot Community!

None yet, but they are working hard to fix it.  Once there IS an update for a fix, I am sure Webroot will be putting a reply on this thread or a new thread to let us all know.
