Computer "frozen": I have received an email notification that my computer has been frozen, infected
I have received an email that my computer has been infeted by a virus, that it has been "frozen" and that I must call a 1-800 number in order to obtain the process to unfreeze my computer. Indeed the email message cannot be removed without dialing the 1-800 number. How should I proceed to unfreeze my computer without dialing the 1-800 number?
Webroot and Opera
I am using Webroot SecureAnywhere software and I just installed the Opera browser on my PC. I see that when I search the green check marks on safe websites are gone. I see that they are not officially supported on Opera. I saw a workarond that did not work for me. Has anyone made it work? If the green check marks are gone, are Webroot Safe Shield and Firewall working and will they protect me if I stumble onto a non-safe site? Thanks for the help.
Charged twice, only one charge refunded, expired service, no help
I purchased my renewal online and everything went smoothly. I noticed, however, when I went to check my online banking that there were TWO pending charges of $48.14. I sent in a ticket to request a refund of $48.14 thinking they would remove one charge, and leave another and let me keep the service I had bought. Today I got a pop up message that my service had ended and when I checked my account one charge had been removed, and one had gone through (no longer pending). So I'm out $48.14 with nothing to show for it. I'm going to the bank to try and dispute this charge if nothing is done about it. My reciept to start with Now on my online banking The code I have purchased is useless and no one in customer service seems like they will aid me in any way. inserted WebRoot CD into the computer, nothing happened!!
I purchased WebRoot for my daughter's new computer because the antivirus software seems to get good reviews. When we inserted the WebRoot CD into the computer, nothing happened. There was no response of any kind. The instructions Explainer videos don't include any customer support phone number. Just a support email address. Uh oh. So I googled the WebRoot customer service phone number. I got a woman with a British accent who did nothing to address the issue. She asked for my email address and said someone would get back to me by email. Uh oh again. No one got back to me by email after several hours, so I emailed customer service myself. The next day, I got a canned email response that was a repeat of the instruction manual. None of which applied to the problem of the CD not working at all. WebRoot customer service is non-existent. The product doesn't work at all. WebRoot and its customer service are
Input devices and password manager
Ever since I installed and started using the Password Manager in Chrome I'm having trouble with my input devices in Chrome. I have a Wacom tablet that is my main input device and now won't click on any dropdown menus. I can't click on the top email row of buttons that includes the delete button. Scroll on the tablet won't work in gmail and won't always work in any other window. I just tried to click and drag with the tablet stylus to select part of this window and it would not do anything. I had to go to the mouse. I reactivated my mouse, which basically works, but it starts and stops like in little fits and won't always go where I want it to go. Both input devices work in every other application on the computer. I called Wacom and they had me restart their service and restart the computer. That worked for about an hour, I think until the next time Webroot used the Password Manager. So now I'm contacting you at Webroot. Is there some sort of known issue? If so what
size of page no longer stays put.
Greetings all, Im not sure if this is a Webroot issue but am looking for advice if you can offer it up. All of a sudden the " page size " wont stay the same. Not sure what Ive done but I used to turn on my computer and all the websites I visited were the same size ( 150 ) Now I have to adjust each site...each time. Even if I go from one page to the next, it reverts back to 100% instead of what I prefer, which is 150%. I currently use the latest Firefox, the latest Webroot and the latest updates to Win 10. I contacted Firefox with this question and some responses were to do this and that... and some responses suggested to get an "add-on ". In the past ( last week ) I didnt need an " add-on " nor did i have to perform the " this and that " to have the page size remain the same each and every time I logged on, regardless of the day or time. Is there a way to " set " once again, the page size so it remains the same, and I dont have to adjust it each and every tim
Webroot and the Hosts file
I have been using Webroot Security Complete for a couple of years now and presently have 4 devices protected. I plan to add a fifth device in October when its ESET license expires. I use the MVPS hosts file for ad blocking as opposed to using a browser extension such as Adblock. I find it works quite well. Now thinking back about ten years ago when Mydoom was rampant, the hosts file may present an attack vector for malicious software. The file may be modified, for example, by adware, computer viruses, or trojan horse software to redirect traffic from the intended destination to sites hosting malicious or unwanted content.] The widespread computer worm [url=https
application won't work without shutting down firewall first
I have an application that updates my QuickBooks account. The auto update will not work if the firewall is on. I have to turn off the firewall, update the app and turn the firewall back on. Can I change a setting on Webroot so that I don't need to do this?
Webroot shows RENEW NOW message at startup even though account display shows 360 days left.
My webroot products are purchased through Best Buy. I bought another PC from them last year. They sold me another webroot even though I had a license for three PCs and was using only 2. When the new webroot was close to expiration the usual RENEW NOW box started appearing. I had Best Buy switch that PC to the license for three. All is well, The new PC webroot si showing 360+ days left and is protecting my PC. The problem is that the RENEW NOW message keeps appearing at startup. I have seen messages, going back over a year, on the web complaining obout this RENEW message not going away. I am pretty good at following fix instructions and, also, I am not in the mood to let Best Buy remote into my PC. Please provide me with a fix for this. Bob Miller
Change subscription from Geek Squad to Webroot.com
Hello :) I currently have a subscription with Geek Squad for SecureAnywhere IS Plus v22.214.171.124 that is expiring in 3 days. Can I renew it through Webroot.com, or is there going to be a issue in doing it that way? Or, do I just uninstall this version, and install the version from Webroot.com? It's nothing against Geek Squad, just a personal preference thing :) Edit: I did just find this thread, is the Solution given, still correct, just uninstall and install the one from Webroot.com? Missing the Icon, where did it go to
Greetings, that little " Green Icon " that indicates a safe site has disappeared. I was searching for a crock pot on Google and that small Greenish Icon is absent for some reason. At first, there is an indication that it will appear but after a " wheel " spins for a few seconds, it just goes blank. I do like knowing if Webroot considers a particular website safe to click on so it would be nice to have that peace of mind ( the Green Icon ) back functioning as it did just yesterday. Thanks all !
Secure erase and scan no longer popup in explorer
Hi, today I was going to scan a file while in explorer, but I noticed the option wasn't there anymore. I also noticed that the secure erase button wasn't there. I checked my settings to make sure they were still on (they were) and I turned them on and off, and even rebooted, but nothing worked. I've attached some pictures as well. Any ideas to fix?
Webroot not updating
Hi, I've been using Webroot security for almost 2 years now and I am running Windows 10. Today an update appeared, and as it was updating, Webroot closed. So, I re-opened Webroot and click the setting icon next to "My Account". I went to "About SecureAnywhere" and saw that I'm on software version 126.96.36.199. If I click "Check for software updates" It says that version 188.8.131.52 is available. If I click the Yes button to install, it starts installing. It downloads it, then says verifying software updates then closes. If I reopen the program and go back to the same place I can see I'm still on the same version. If I try to update again, the same thing happens. What can I do? Thanks!
My daughter and I both got new laptops right before Easter. We got the webroot download with it. We installed it on both computers. She hasnt been able to use her laptop because when you turn it on just the screen saver stays on. Desk top items will not come on. We tried turning it on again yesterday. It has been turned on since yesterday and still is on screen saver. No desktop yet.
Reason number 956 to trust Webroot
Greetings to all Webroot members. I recently got my computer back from HP. They had replaced a hard drive that had bitten the dust. Windows went through their updates that were successfully downloaded. The wizards over at Webroot assisted me in installing the toolbar and a few other things. All that happened on 05-08-2017. Here's a short story. I changed my Email password but it didn't take. I Googled Yahoos phone number to ask them why it didn't work and the number I got was 800-675-6486. I called it and a few minutes later was speaking with an individual who informed me that my computer was infected with the Torpig virus. After showing me a bunch of files that had been corrupted he offered to fix everything for $ 199.00. I was warned that all my passwords and information was now in the hands of a hacker. My bank balance could disappear and a hacker could charge on my accounts. Then it dawned on me that maybe my computer was not really at risk an
toolbar fix ??
Greetings Webroot Gurus, All was well until my HP Desktops Hard Drive and Network Card decided to break itself. I'm slowly getting up and running again. I lost a bunch of saved information but most importantly I have most of my Webroot information back again. I am however having a heck of a time getting the toolbar back up. I tried all the suggestions but am running into a wall. When I attempt to do the fix, the program keeps telling me I have more than one browsers open. I do have the latest version of Firefox which is my main browser I'm using. Am trying to get the nice little Green colored wheel back to the upper right hand corner so I can just click on a favorite and go right to it without having to enter passwords etc.... I know the information is all saved because I see them but for some reason I cant get the toolbar/ tool bar fix to open. Any help will sure be appreciated.......many thanks.
